Slic3r slowing my printing speeds?
Hi guys,
How is it possible that with the same configuration in Slic3r and in Simplify 3D, when I run it through pronterface to check the printing time it changes so much?
For example, for the twisted gear vase it shows that the one from simplify 3D has an estimated time of 2h21m and the one from slic3r 3h17m.
As you can see from the attachments, even when I see the printing speed through simplify, it shows that the speed never reaches the green color in the slic3r one, while the simplify one does.
Is this just virtual estimations or does simplify really boosts printing speeds?
Thanks.
Re: Slic3r slowing my printing speeds?
Have you printed either to see how accurate the estimate really is?
Re: Slic3r slowing my printing speeds?
Slic3r (and most decent slicers) will slow down the print if the layer will take less time to print than the "Minimum Layer Time" setting.
When printing a vase, this is quite likely to be the case if your min layer time is set to (say) 20 seconds.
