Slic3r settings for different nozzles
Hi,
I want to print some bigger parts on my Mk 2 but with the 0.4 mm nozzle it takes too long, so I ordered an 0.8 mm nozzle.
Now my problem is, that I am far from having mastered Slic3r settings, so I was wandering if someone here knows some
good settings for that nozzle size at 0.2 mm layer hight and maybe 0.1 mm.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Slic3r settings for different nozzles
Why use a 0.8 mm nozzle for 0.2 layer height? You would be better off leaving the 0.4 mm nozzle in place. You will lose detail printing at 0.2 with a 0.8 nozzle.
Re: Slic3r settings for different nozzles
This is for larger, structural parts, where looks aren't that important. Although, with an 0.8mm nozzle, I could probably increase layer hight.
As mentioned before I have not experimented with the settings much.
Re: Slic3r settings for different nozzles
So, let's try to revive this thread. I had a project on my mind for a while that I finally want to do, but it's quite large so I want to use a bigger nozzle.
Any tips on slic3r settings for 0.6 or 0.8 mm nozzles would be appreciated.
Re: Slic3r settings for different nozzles
Layer height up to 80% of nozzle diameter.
Maximum melt volume of the V6 is just over 10mm^3/s, so you will have to do the math... (and increase temps).

Re: Slic3r settings for different nozzles
Thank you for your quick response. I just noticed that Slic3r has an autospeed funktion. Do you know if that works properly? If so, I guess all I would have to change is the layer height, nozzle diameter, extrusion width and the volumetric speed?
Re: Slic3r settings for different nozzles
Sorry, I can't help with that; I don't use Slic3r...

No, don't use it.

As mentioned by Peter, you may need to bump up the extruder temperature and decrease the print speed, so the higher amount of plastic could melt by the same heater in the same heating chamber.
