Slic3r PE vs S3D
Firstly, my first post so hoping not to ask something that has already - I've tried all sorts of search terms!
This isn't a comparison request as I actually have both! I really like 90% of the qualities I am getting from Slic3R PE, however I can't seem to get curved exteriors like I can on S3D! S3D seems to give me mostly exceptional prints, even at 0.2mm, but certain parts don't match up to Slic3r!
Now, I would be foolish to think there are not pro's and con's to every slicer but I am using Benchy to test and KNOW people are getting better results, but regardless of what I try in Slic3r PE I end up with "weird bumps" (this isn't an extrusion problem as everything is exactly same across programs). I have attached a photo, the top one is printed with a sliced gcode in Slic3r PE! Look at the hull in comparison to the bottom one from S3D!
How do I eliminate this? Yes I could stick with S3D but I don't want to as S3D works so much better elsewhere, plus I have the MM coming so want to fix it.
All help appreciated!
Re: Slic3r PE vs S3D
You know what popped into my mind when looking at these pictures? I think you got a case of X-Axis wobble. (the cabin looks strangely deformed as well) And that would be a hardware and not a slicer issue (-> belts lose, pulley lose or not tightened properly against the flat side of the motor shaft, x-axis binding, idler wheel blocking or too much friction).
Maybe try and print a small test tower 20mm x 20mm, and make it 60mm high or something like that and upload a picture of the finished print?
