Slic3r big blob

The first centimeters I print when I used Slic3r my printer is trying to print a meter PLA in a second. It becomes a big blob of plastic stuck between the extruder and the plate, then it makes a loud BANG ass it forces it's way trough, and then the thick line is printed before the actual print job starts. What is happening here?

Re: Slic3r big blob

You are probably using the wrong settings.

Download the drivers, load the settings, but first, print one of the pre-sliced GCode files from the SD card, and search the forums.

Firmware upgraded. Slic3r settings updated. Same thing. The start consumes too much filament too fast. And the end of the print tends to eat into the filament so I have to open the extruder and remove a bend piece of filament after each print. Print quality is kind of ok, first layer still a drama, calibration prints are near perfect: http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/prusa-i3-kit-building-calibrating-first-print-main-f6/life-adjust-z-my-way-t2981-s200.html#p38635

Re: Slic3r big blob

goto printer settings tab , custom g-code , check start g-code .
under g1 command , you can adjust the extrusion amount . reduce the value under "E" , for example if it was G1 X60.0 E9.0 F1000.0 , change it to G1 X60.0 E6.0 F1000.0 and check if better .

i had the same issue with stock slicer settings .

Re: Slic3r big blob

Thanks for the tip but I seem to have many G1 commands. Is there a specific one you are referring to?

M115 U3.0.12-RC1 ; tell printer latest fw version
; Start G-Code sequence START
T[initial_tool]
M109 S[first_layer_temperature]
G21 ; set units to millimeters
G90 ; use absolute coordinates
M83 ; use relative distances for extrusion
G28 W
G80
G92 E0.0
M203 E100
M92 E171.6
G1 Z0.250 F7200.000
G1 X50.0 E80.0 F1000.0
G1 X160.0 E20.0 F1000.0
G1 Z0.200 F7200.000
G1 X220.0 E13 F1000.0
G1 X240.0 E0 F1000.0
G1 E-4 F1000.0
G92 E0.0

Re: Slic3r big blob

G1 is a movement command; the parameters which follow denote which motors to move and where to or (for E only) by how many millimetres.

So G1 X50 E80 the nozzle will move from its current position to X=50 whilst extruding 80mm of filament (E80 - and note that is 80mm of filament ... around 200mm^3)

EDIT: That looks like the MM upgrade start code...

Re: Slic3r big blob

are you using mm upgrade ?
that's a ton of filament being extruded for regular mk2

Re: Slic3r big blob

Thanks guys, I think I had the MM Printer settings with the Print and Filament settings files from the MK2 somehow mixed up. Works awesome now.
