Please help me improve the Marvin print

Hi everyone,

I have done some tests and printed Marvin in 100 and 200 microns.
Is there room for improvements? If so, what can I do?

Printed this with Colorfabb Economy PLA 210°C / 55°C

200 actually looks somewhat better but I'm still not satisfied with both of them.

Thanks

You are using the stock nozzle that came with the MK2, you need to go to the smallest nozzle made by E3D.

Ok well that would make it better, sure. But are you saying that this is as good as it gets using the stock 0.4mm nozzle? The jumping layers on the 100 micron print look like there is room for improvement.

Anyone?

Are you using the default spool holder, it can cause print problems if the spool has any type of friction. If you bump down the speed and acceleration and reslice you may get further improvement.

not sure if its the color but it looks kinda rough... I have never printed the Marvin but looks like it should be better.

are you using Slic3r? was your printer a kit?

I'll try to print the Marvin on my machine to see if it looks any different.

This is just wrong. The stock nozzle will print amazing Marvins at .1 and .2 layer height.

I would look first at belts and pulleys. Make sure the belts are the correct tension and make sure all pulleys have the grub screw tight against the flat part of the motor shaft.

My Marvin just finished and I have to tell you that there is a lot of room to improve your print. I just printed mine using Slic3r PE 1.34.00 using the default profile for .2mm and it looks great.

This is using the default profile for .2mm? Absolutly no changes made to the printing settings? The only changes I made were these:

Also I'm not using the original spool holder, I am using this one:
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1185076

Right now it holds a big 2.2kg Colorfabb Economy PLA spool.

Last night I ran some more tests. I increased the External Permimeters Speed to 60 and Top Solid Infill Speed to 60. This one turned out better.
Then I printed another one with those speeds and an extrusion multiplier of 0.9. I just had a quick look at it this morning but i believe it looked even better.

I will post those pictures later on!

Other than that...
Yes I got the kit, but calibration says everything is perpendicular.
The grub screws are definitely against the flat part of each shaft. Tension should be fine aswell since this layer jump is circular....meaning there would have to be something wrong with the X AND Y axis.

Ok so I tried printing the Marvin that came on the SD Card. That´s still not perfect....

Re: Please help me improve the Marvin print

it seems you are having some kinda issue with temperature. That print reminds me of when I printed PLA without a cooling fan

I have done more prints. 200 microns seems fine now. But 100 microns still looks weird. I printed these with 195°C Hotend using the default 0.1 and 0.2mm settings.

Cooling fan is on 100%
