Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
I have no idea if we are having the same issue but I am getting one section of my larger prints pulling up as well, when the entire rest of the print looks good.
Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
First, the printer doesn't print well upside down. (Just joking).
I am assuming you are using PLA and a bed temp of 55+.
Make sure your bed is very clean (try acetone) and your Live Z is set to smash the first layer very well:
You may want to try a higher bed temperature.
Then, the only other times I have had issues is if the FILL factor is 100%, which causes some expansion as it cools and the print to cool. Reducing it seems to make for less compression.
If you are printing ABS, that is a totally different thing.
Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…
Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
it's caused by the extruder fan. If you wet your hand and place it under the extruder during a self test of the extruder fan...you''ll know what I mean. I Just printed a small louvered cover (that directs air from above into the fan) for the extruder fan earlier tonight and I'm currently printing some small abs parts that constantly failed before because of the turbulence created by the fan. It's just the fix it needed...and a heated chamber (30C or so) helps a lot too.

Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
I'm keen to try this out, but can you describe how you are attaching this to the fan? Is it just on the outside?
Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
Yes, it attaches to the outside of the fan using the existing screws. 12-15 minutes to print @ .2 layer height and 30% infill...a few minutes to install. It's pretty tight when homing "x" but works well with my build.
I used the flange part of the design from something else I was working on so the model will need to be rotated 135 degrees...does not require supports.
Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
Minor edit to both files to provide more clearance for the bottom screw heads. [1PM 12-19-2017]
Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
Still haven't finished the reprint of the large print I was doing, but the initial use suggests that this actually works.
Thanks Hypocycle!
Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
De nada...I'm glad I could be of some help.
Re: Left side of print is curling up during print
I have now printed my large part 3 times now and every single time it printed significantly better than before I had the fan cover. In fact I intentionally didn't change a single setting (including bed temperature) to ensure I wasn't being tricked.
This is a mod I highly recommend.
