Kisslicer – extruder delay at start of print
I've just started trying out Kisslicer as my goto instead of Slic3r. From a UI perspective I like it a lot more, however I have yet to get a great print with it. The main issue I'm having at the moment is that it seems to delay the extruder at the start of the print. By that I mean when it starts the first layer, no material is extruded at all until it gets part way through the layer. I just started the exact same print in Slic3r and it's working great.
FWIW I'm using PJR's settings that he attached here: http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/print-tips-slic3r-settings-kisslicer-model-repair--f12/kisslicer-settings--t695.html#p5199 , but I'm printing with PETG filament (but had the same issue with PLA) using settings modified from the PLA in the above-mentioned settings.

Hi Joe,
Within the slic3r settings provided by PR, thare is a set of Gcode to print an initial line on the left side. I believe this help to clean the nozzle and to have a proper initial print.
You could try by adding this codes on KissSlicer (I know Peter settings do not include that).
Slic3r init gcode consist of:
M201 X1000 Y1000 E600 ; Set max printing acceleration
M109 S[first_layer_temperature] ; Set Extruder Temperature and Wait first layer temperature
M92 E161.3 ; Set axis_steps_per_unit (Extruder)
G28 ; Go Home
G92 E0.0 ; Set extrudor position 0
G1 X8.0 F2000 ; Go to x=8 (mm)
G1 Y60.0 E4.0 F1000.0 ; Go to Y=60 , Extruding at 4mm/min
G1 Y100.0 E8.5 F1000.0 ; Go to Y=100 , Extruding at 8.5mm/min
G92 E0.0 ; Set extrudor position 0
I suggest you to add the code starting with the first G92 at the end of KISSSlicer init gcode.
I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.
Re: Kisslicer – extruder delay at start of print
Key to this is that I always print with at least a skirt. Sometimes a brim, others a raft, but always a skirt.
This ensures that the filament is properly loaded in the extruder.

Peter is right. Always print with at least skirt, or then a brim and with ABS a raft. Works for me too.

Apparently I wasn't subscribed to this thread, just saw the replies searching for a separate PETG issue...
Once I started printing with a skirt it started working much better. Thanks for the tips!
