Interface missing on bottom of support
I am having an issue printing a specific design with only the Interface in PVA. I am using Slic3r PE 1.37.2 for Muti-material. Three extruders are being used 1,2, and 4 (for PVA support). The part is complex so that I think I may have uncovered a bug; it is a Tesseract design that I have been trying to perfect for a few years now. Here is the model:
And here is the 3D preview after slicing:
The color of my PVA support is white. You can see where the PVA interface is generated to protect the surfaces of the part. However, the section I have marked with a red rectangle is not being generated as interface such that the support is printed in PLA directly on top the lower portion of the tesseract. Interestingly, the support is being generated perfectly with the correct interfaces below the model, on the corners, and at the top, just not on top of the lower pipe (marked in red).
Thanks for your help.
Also, in case it helps identify the issue, the other three sides have the same problem with the interface missing at the bottom.
Re: Interface missing on bottom of support
After further research it's not that the interface is completely missing, the generated interface is weak and inconsistent. Contrast the well-constructed interface at the bottom of the lower pipe:
To the interface produced above the lower pipe:
In addition to the interface being produced mostly in PLA (black) instead of PVA (white), the produced interface is different on one of the three sides. Changing the interface type from rectilinear, rectilinear grid, honeycomb, or pillars doesn't seem to make any difference.
Re: Interface missing on bottom of support
Will it help, if you disable the "Don't support bridges" settings at the support page?
If you think there is a bug in slic3r, please create a github issue, including your STLs and exported config.ini. Please make the screenshots with non-black colors. The black is difficult to interpret. Thank you.
Re: Interface missing on bottom of support
Oddly enough I can't tell any difference in the way the support is generated for this model with or without "Don't support bridges" checked. Thank you.
