Re: Flexible filaments

I get the same results a 'blow out' I call it. I have tried 4-5 prints and had 1 success, on the last one I turned off retraction and still got the blow out about 10-15 mins into the print?

https://photos.app.goo.gl/JNJVGGNxdXuZyptG8

Tried a phone case as well and once it got to the sides I would get a blow out?

The filament I am using is YoYi from amazon, it was cheap and had decent reviews so I thought I would give it a try... it's put away now, but would like to figure it out...

Bed 35, extruder 210, no retraction (vase mode as well)....

Thanks for any assistance...

Re: Flexible filaments

I too have had a hell of time getting flexible filament to work.

I use Slic3r and I set it to use PLA filament. The flex filament setting is way to hot.
I then add this command just before everything starts to print: M220 S60
The command slows printing to 60%.
I add the above command in the "Custom G-Code" under the Printer Setting tab.
I also set retraction length to 3 mm in "Extruder 1" under the Printer Setting tab.
Bed temp at 74
Extruder temp at 210

The trick to removing finished flex print jobs is to wait for everything to cool down and then use a spray bottle with 50% water and 50% alcohol.
It really is truly amazing, how easy it is to remove finished jobs. Even jobs that are small and flat.

Another trick I found to clean up all the loose strings, is to use a hot air gun or anything that blows hot air. The thin stings of fliament just melt away.

Richard

Re: Flexible filaments

I'm printing on the MK3 with the Prusa Flexfill 98A White filament 500g filament and I tried all of the settings suggested (see below), but still get the same jammed filament feeder. The filament just builds up around the feeder about 5-20 min into a print. I also tried a myriad of other settings without any luck.

Can Prusa or someone share a config file and send a picture on how loose the filament feeder screws should be?

Re: Flexible filaments

Finally fixed my TPU problem. Turned out to be the filament, even though it was bag stored. Got some new filament and all fine
Prints easy at 25mm/s + but i still leave retraction off

Re: Flexible filaments

I had similar problems when printing with Flexfill 98A from Fillamentum on the MK3. The filament stopped extruding after around 10 minutes and tangled around the extruder gears. After reading some blog posts here and the good tipps on https://www.prusaprinters.org/how-to-print-with-flexible-filament/ by Jakub Kočí I slightly modified:

  • the temp. of the Slic3r Filament preset "Semiflex or Flexfill 98A" by +5°C to 245°C.

  • the speed in the Printer preset "0.20mm FAST MK3" I modified the speed: Perimeters 40mm/s, small Perimeters 20mm/s, external Perimeters 30mm/s
  • But the main change that solved my issue was very very likely to more loosen the two idler screws to reduce the pressure on the filament.

  • front idler screw: remove screw then put in again and only turn the screwdriver until the screw holds (around 1 turn)

  • back idler screw: remove screw then put in again and turn with a screwdriver only slightly (around 2-3 turns)
  • Now it is working very good. Only need to tweak maybe the temp. again to reduce stringing... And removing the printed object from the PEI heatbed works quite well when glue stick was applied to the bed before the print.

Attached you find my filament and printer settings for the MK3. Hope it helps also others. Happy printing 🙂
