First layer of support material won't stick
Hello there.
I'm having problems with the first layer of support material only. The first layer sticks well when i'm not doing support material but with support material, it doesn't adhere good enough. It curls up in the quick changes of direction, gets pulled on and it ends up being a mess.
I've increased both the support material and first layer extrusion widths and has played a bit around with speeds and accelerations of the first layer but I can't seem to get anything to print if slic3r generated support is needded.
Is the speed, acceleration and extrusion width of the first layer of support material controlled by the first layer settings or the support material settings?
Thanks in advance,
Sebastian Jørgensen

Please let me know if you figure this out. I have been fighting it for weeks.
Re: First layer of support material won't stick
I may or may not have had the same issue, check the link (There's an image there) below. The ends of my supports on the first layer would start curling up which would destroy any attempt at printing. In my case I switched from PrusaControl to Slic3r and then slowed down the first layer substantially (Print Setting => Speed => Modifiers (First Layer Speed:) 20%). Since doing that I've been able to print with out any major issues. The frist layer is supper slow, but the others print rather fast.

Same issue. Only when using PrusaControl and only with support material as the first layer.
Re: First layer of support material won't stick
I get this problem both with Slicer and PrusaControl. I suspect it is print speed on the second support layer. Is there a way to adjust this in Control?
RE: First layer of support material won't stick
I have the same problem. I ended up adding a thin object to my parts then have the support build on that. But your right, there should be an easy way to increase the area on 1st layer for supports.
