Curling and Warping issues
Hello,
I've recently built my prusa i3 MK2 printer and have completed some prints and they are printing great, however on prints with larger flat surfaces (such as the batman print on the SD card) I am getting corner curling/warping.
I have recently started printing tiles for a dungeons and dragons game (PLA material), and have noticed that the corners of the tiles usually end up curling as well. During the printing process, the first couple of layers at the beginning of the print look to be flat, however later on into the print I can start to see minor curling.
Below is a picture showing the minor lifting (these are two separate printed pieces stuck together, tile and bottom frame)
The second picture is a more severe example. Other than the curling, they are printing great.
I am very new to 3D printing and am looking for advice on how to combat this curling issue?
I clean the printing bed before each print, with 99% Isopropyl and paper towel, I've tried the glue stick that game with the kit however that seemed to enhance the issue, I have the latest firmware installed, and the room I am printing in stays at a consistent temperature.
I'm thinking the issue may be with my settings in slic3r? These .stl files are purchased from a gaming company and their settings are below as well.
I have also attached a screenshot of the settings in Slic3r. Maybe I am entering them in wrong, or have the first layer height or speeds incorrect?
I would really appreciate any help or suggestions regarding this type of issue.
Temperate: PLA 200 (75 bed); ABS 220 (75 bed)
Primary Layer height: 0.1000
Top Solid Layers: 6
Bottom Solid Layers: 4
Outline Shells: 2
Infill: 15%
Speed: 60.0 mm/s
Thank you
Adam
Re: Curling and Warping issues
75 degrees on the bed is too hot for PLA, try 55-65. Also, it would help to see the bottom layer.

Thank you for the response richard, I will try a lower bed temperature in that range.
Below are pictures of the bottom layer (same piece with flash off/on, and the frame piece. Some of the scratches on the bottom are from tying to slide the frame in place).
Re: Curling and Warping issues
I found that the 70% IPA is not enough to get perfect adhesion on printing PLA.
I have to use acetone every couple of prints, to wipe the print bed, and this seems to help PLA to stick miuch better.
Also, due to it being cold here currently, I set the bed to 62c.
Re: Curling and Warping issues
Thank you for the replies on the issue. It looks like the bed temp of 75 was too high, as mentioned. After setting the bed temp to 55-60, my last two prints have been perfectly flat, with no corners lifting or warping.
Re: Curling and Warping issues
I would like to put another thing in: The cooling is maybe too much for such a big part and will introduce tensions from the upper layers cooling down and the lower ones heated (as pointed out too much).

You mean regular garden variety acetone like
Onyx Professional 100% Acetone Nail Polish Remover Removes Artificial Nails, Nail Polish, Gel Polish and Glitter Polish, 16 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051IC96Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_J.dIybXMH4MRB
That is safe to use on the bed?

PEI is pretty much chemically indestructible. (not really, but close enough for our purposes.)
I use Acetone I bought in a big can in the hardware stores paint section.
I can only guess whats in your nail stuff, but if they are not lieing (lying?) Acetone is Acetone. (again, as far as I know 🙂 )
