Crappy Print Quality on Cura 2.4

Hello All,
I got my MK2 and have been loving it for the past while, but one thing I didn't like was Slic3r Prusa Edition. I can get great prints off of it but I HATE the GUI. I really Like how Cura 2.4 looks so I tried that. Everything was working great, but when I printed a benchy at 300 Microns it looked like a benchy form a printer that was made in 2010. One thing I like about the v15 of Cura, is the .ini file support for custom profiles so users could share easily. As far as I can see, v2.4 doesn't support that, and I cant find anyones settings listed. For now I might just deal with the horrific slicing times and GUI of Slic3r. (sorry Prusa team!) Maybe sometime in the future I'll get Simlify3D but I just can't justify the price right now. SO does anyone else have this issue and do you use v2.4? By the looks of it I think I might be underextruding, but I'm not sure.

Thanks,
Brandon

🙂

Hi, in Cura 2.4 you can input profiles by clicking on settings / profile / manage profile.

Have just notice it has a built in profile for the Mk11 under the 'others' tab in add printer.

Still waiting on my bits so can't try it out....

Which preset for Cura are you using? The one that comes with the app? It should produce better prints then this, have you increased the retraction settings or something?
As for S3D, right now it is definitely not worth it (for me), It's missing features available from other slicers:
- From Cura, adaptive infill density, better support for different materials,
- Slic3r has the new super-awesome dynamic layer thickness and nice speed/infill controls for small diameter areas
- CraftWare has seam hiding in corners and is stupid fast.

If S3D combined all that, it would definitely be worth $150, but it's missing most of those. I'll either wait until s3d incorporates those features, or until cura/slic3r/craftware start bringing in some of them.
