ColorFabb XT: how to get correct first layer?
Hi all,
I tried first to grab info on the forum but I'm finally lost.
With my Prusa MK2, I obviously had very nice prints with PLA, very sticky but nice prints with BioFila PLATEC and of course warping with ABS because I don't have enclosure 🙂
So, I decided to try ColorFabb XT (and later maybe HT) because it behaves mechanically as ABS (not brittle like PLA, tough and plastic). Of course, it's thermal properties is still limited to 75°C, but it's quite enough for Prusa replacements parts except extruder.
So, my problem, the first 1 or 2 layers. After that, it rather nice (tried at 0.2mm) if you don't use supports (because they tends to stick to the master piece).
I didn't try with nude PEI cleaned completely with IPA as it was said it can stick too much (like PETG). But I'm now less convinced.
I put glue and it keep sticked ... when it sticks. Infill is not regular even when playing a lot with LiveZ. So, even if the print is globally successful, the first layer is poor.
I tried than to wipe a little bit the glue with IPA, thinking the glue was not perfectly regularly applied. The print started very nicely but... after few millimeters, the print started to warp a lot, ready to unstick completely even when the heatbed was hot.
I heard about 3Dlac spray but I hesitate to use such flammable product without clear instructions.
Thks in advance guys 🙂

I can't help you with all the rest, but 3dlac shouldn't be an issue unless you spray it directly into a flame.
