Best way to remove model from print bed
Hi guys, would like to share a way to remove model from print bed. On my first print on i3 Prusa mk2 kit version, the model stuck firmly onto the print bed. As it is brand new and the bed has PEI surface, i would not want to use a scraper to remove the model as it may scratch the PEI surface. As I was thinking of how to remove the model, I recalled how I can use dental floss to remove remnant of food not matter how tight the teeth are together. So I use the dental floss (clean one of course) and slide it around the foot of the model and slowly pull towards the other end, just like the way we floss our teeth. Magically, the model came off so easily and the print bed is without a scratch!
Any one has another better method of removing printed model without using brute force or scraper?

Floss is a pretty novel idea! I can't say I've heard of anyone using that before, I'm gonna give it a try on my next print.
My current goto is the buildtak scraper. https://www.buildtak.com/product/buildtak-spatula/ The corners are rounded so there's very little chance of it cutting into the mat, and even though it was made for buildtak (which is what I used when I had the mk1 printer), it works just as well on the pei surface.

I usually live dangerously and use a paint scraper (with razor blade) so far ive only scratched the PEI once 😛 dont do what i do though lol.
I might try with the floss that sounds like a good idea.

I have tried to use floss to remove larger prints from the print bed and realise that there is no chance of sliding the floss under the base of the model. And I think a scrapper may still come in handy to create a small indentation and allow the dental floss to slide under. I am going to try this approach and see whether it will be easier. 😀

😀 I printed the tree frog from the bundled SD card. The first time I tried printing it, the model slipped, so I had to start over. The second time, I applied glue stick. The model stuck, so the print was successful, but I couldn't get the model off the print bed later. Spatulas couldn't get under it for removal. Cycling the bed temp didn't work, either. I sprayed it thoroughly with window cleaner to try to dissolve the glue. No luck until I tried the floss trick. Tree frog removed with no damage to the print bed. Thanks. 😀

Really? I bought the BuildTak scraper and it has been completely useless for me. The tip is way too dull and thick to get underneath the prints to release them. How are you supposed to use it?
