ABS layer separation

So I'm trying to create a thin (about 3mm) object in pieces. However everytime I try I get the layers separating at the edges, see attached picture.

I started with the recommended setting for printing ABS, 100C bed and 255C extruder. I've tried to go as high as 265C for the extruder and as low as 245C. That doesn't help.

I tried to put some cardboard pieces around the printer to see if that would make any difference, it didn't.

So now I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Re: ABS layer separation

Same issue, I've just gave up with this material... I'm going to try with some PET...

Let's see if someone can help us here... Just one note... in the ABS filament roll received from PRUSA it states temperatures from 200-230ºC.... 🙄

Re: ABS layer separation

Layer separations with ABS is from irregular and fast cooling. If you have any drafts around the printer it will affect it. Also the ambient room temp to cool. This is why enclosures are used. ABS really likes a controlled environment, especially a warm one and no cooling fan!
Depending on the brand I generally print ABS at 230 and a bed starting at no more than 110 and reducing quickly to 95 or so depending on the environment temp.
