What to build out of spare parts, MK3 or MK2S?

I already have MK3 and plan to build own Prusa MKXX out of spare parts and MK2.5 upgrade kit plus original MK2S frame with 3030 alu profile upgrade (which I have to still make) just can't decide if go for RAMBO mini or Einsy board.

I there were no issues with the print quality which is mostly due to FW and Trinamic I would not hesitate to go for Einsy but as for now just can't decide, any input is appreciated, pro and contra.

I would go with the Einsy.

The Trinamic, drivers are fantastic, I read somewhere. (don't quote me... lol) that print speeds are going near ludicrous speeds! The print settings on the Mk3 are already cutting off the "rough" settings, becuase it can still print as fast with thinner layers! I'm sure with proper tweaking, tuning, magic, voodoo, and what not, you might be able to nearly max the E3D v6 hotend's flow rate, at 0.15mm layer height! As what I read was saying 0.2mm layer height nearly maxes the flow rate today, but I also read that tweaking the new driver, was yeilding large increase in speeds in testing.

Also the TMC2130 is a 2.5amp driver, while most steppers are ~2amp. The fact the drivers are not heat-sinked, means they are pushing MUCH less power than that. Doing a bit of math, you can imagine a LOT more power being consumed by those drivers, than is currently being pulled! That along with linear advance, means much faster!

Really my biggest disappoint in the Mk3, is the Einsy though... it should be a 32bit. As you speed your print up, you increase the load on the already heavily taxed 8bit processor. The board is VERY nice though. I'm hoping for a Mk3S that has a 32bit chipset in the near future.

PS: I don't have my printer yet, so this is all hear-say, and specs. But honestly, I think putting mini-heat-sinks on the TMC2130 chips, and cranking the power up in "non-silent" mode, paired with Linear advance. (and pray it still has enough spare change power to connect to OctoPi) Would push the speed of the printer out of this world. (quality would likely take a hit at those speeds though)

Go for the DuetWifi.

I was considering it but I want to be able to stay with Prusa FW or can I compile for DuetWifi and be 100% with all the MK3 part?
Also the DuetWifi cost 200EUR in EU

I agree about disappointment with not being 32bit. I may try the Klipper route but need to investigate the trinamic driver integration.

Klipper sounds promising, have to look in to it.

definitely pricey. In Canada it's the same thing, but it's 32bit... has Wifi already with a good web UI and high speed SD card interface. it uses 2660 TMC drivers instead which are a bit beefier. the firmware is super well supported.... DC42 is also testing experimental laser and encoder based filament sensors. they would probably work on other boards but support is already built in to the firmware. i use the firmare with a RADDs board already.

if i wanted to just build a printer, i would use the duetwifi. if you want to build a MK2-3 clone that's supported by prusa's firmware then just get the same hardware to match.

That's got me thinking now, what about the heat bead carriage, can you by them separately too? I couldn't find them on the shop

there is no heat bead carriage in prusa shop, I had the same problem,
you can get them from Aliexpress for $28, also the MK3 Frame w/o extrusions (get from Misumi)
I got the Original MK2S frame in the basket (Prusa Shop) for $55 (I don't pay Tax) and don't know if I should order it and do this: https://openbuilds.com/builds/prusa-i3-bear-half-upgrade-v1-0.5661/ or go for MK3 frame from aliexpress for $70

you can get them from Aliexpress for $28, also the MK3 Frame w/o extrusions (get from Misumi)

Good find, I don’t have a frame so was thinking about using some of the aluminium extrusions I have laying around and a mix of parts from Thingiverse combined with the 2.5 upgrade for bed and extruder set up
