Very Hot SD Card

Has anybody noticed that their SD card gets uncomfortably hot?

It doesn't matter if I'm actively printing or not.

If I leave the printer on and the SD card inserted, if I pull it out and touch the contacts, it feels much hotter than it should be. It feels hotter than the build plate.

Anybody else notice this? It doesn't seem to affect the quality of the prints, its just a little disconcerting.

Nopes, mine is not getting very hot.

But i have had a memorycard melt (yes melt, i had to use a knife and tools to remove it) in my GPS. So it could be your memorycard thats faulty.

I checked after a 5 hour print and it was cool.

I've had a physically abused SD card get hot, and take out what it was inserted into; I'd strongly suggest replacing it. Heating up is electronics way of telling you that it is not feeling well, and might need to take a nap soon, or worse.

Thanks for the replies.

The SD card I was using (the one what came with the MK3) is the one that was getting hot.

It failed in the middle of a 48hr print, with the printer just stopping and saying there was no SD card inserted.

Printer is OK, as I'm using a different card and it seems to be going just fine.
