Re: Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
One more thing I want to ask you, 0.35mm FAST print settings Do you want to keep this setting or can I just delete it?
delete. i was wondering why it was slower... or if i was imagining it.
Re: Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
I don't quite understand. I downloaded the linked Slic3r and other drivers, and installed them.
I then went to Help -> Config Wizard (Set MK3) -> Reset user profiles, click Finish.
But when I look at the Filament Settings tab, the "Extrusion Multiplier" is still set at 1.0. Not at 95% like Josef said.
Do I need to set the multiplier myself? Or was it set internally somewhere inside Slic3r?

Thank you for your testing. New Drivers 2.1.3 are out 😉 https://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/

It is in the start gcode 😉 This way you can tweak material specific extrusion multipliers easier.

Doing the configuration reset didn't seem to update the Start G-Code in the Printer Settings section. It showed up with the new command in the 'default' tooltip, but the G-code itself was unchanged.
Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
I can confirm this. After installation I see "M221 S95" in the start GCode and Infill is set to "Grid". After I reset the profiles via "Help -> Configuration Wizard" the "M221 S95" is missing and fill pattern is set to "cubic" again.
Best Regards!

Glad to hear you root caused. 95% matches my calculation from test prints.
As for 0.35 profile, doesn’t it depend on perimeter to infill ratio of model? E3d won’t keep up on infill but I think it can on perimeter. I need to calculate. If it can’t handle perimeter speed at 0.35 I agree to drop it.
Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
I have updated to the driver version 2.1.3 and ran the configuration wizard to reset the profiles, but I do not see an M221 or anything else that indicate that the extrusion has been adjusted to 95%.
I am confused?! How can I tell if the slicer is now using the correct extrusion multiplier?
One other comment, the 0.35 profile is also still listed.
Thanks,

Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
One tip for people who are not getting updated profiles:
This caught me by surprise. The Shortcut for Slic3r PE. I placed all my shortcuts into a separate folder on desktop. But the shortcut itself, has the following:
"C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\Slic3rPE\slic3r.exe" --DataDir "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Prusa3D\Slic3r settings MK3 210"
So I would install the latest driver package from the support page. Reset my profiles (Help -> Config Wizard -> Reset to MK3). And nothing would change. I reinstalled again, but this time during install, I checked "Create shortcuts on desktop". Then, I copied and overwrote my shortcuts in the above-mentioned separate folder. Now the shortcut has:
"C:\Program Files\Prusa3D\Slic3rPE\slic3r.exe" --DataDir "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Prusa3D\Slic3r settings MK3 213"
Now, when I check the slic3r PE settings, I can see that the default infil was changed to Grid, and the M221 S95 gcode command is present under Printer Settings -> Custom G-Code
tl;dr:
If the settings aren't changing, check your Slic3r shortcut. It may be using the old settings.
Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
Yes, this seems to have always been the case.
I used to keep the icon on the taskbar, but wondered why it never ran the updated slic3r, then found that the icon on the desktop did, so I now only use it from the desktop.
Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
Hi!
Anyone know why the default infill pattern was changed?
I always liked the cubic infill, are there any drawbacks I'm not aware of?
Too complicated for the ultra fast MK3? 😀
Thx!
S.
P.S.: good work Prusa&Team!
Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
Cubic infill seems to give more obvious blemishes on the outsides of the models.
Maybe they got fed up with questions and changwd to a less obvious infil

Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
My issue (old profile even when I updated the drivers) turned out to be related to the shortcut pointing to the old profile directory as mentioned above.
Thank you for pointing that out!

Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
Please bring back support for .30mm in Slic3r PE and Prusa Control! I understand the volume difference, and have actually out ran the extruder once. However, alot of things I print don't allow the printer to run at full speed, so the extra layer height does make an impact. And since the MK3 does such an amazingly good job at .30mm, (better than my previous printer did at .20mm) .30mm is my default layer height for most items.
My experience has been that smaller, blocky objects can actually be very hard to tell the difference between .2 & .3 in PLA. It is obvious that most of the parts on my printer were printed at .30 or .35, and while they have more noticeable lines, they obviously work just fine.
There are also a couple different videos floating around on Youtube showing that PETG is stronger when printed at .3mm vs .2mm
Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
I have a couple of questions about this version of slic3r.
First, M221 S95 in the custom gcode, would that not override any tweaks you do to flow in slic3r, or would that be a base value that you can further tweak within slic3r?
Secondly, i did a few test prints with new slic3r and the included filament, the top of a flat surface is far from smooth but rather feels like its still overextruding, im not sure i can tell any real difference from earlier version.
Except from measuring the filament and see how much is extruded, is there any way of seeing whats the extrusion rate is within the printer interface?

I agree and even if the model is only printed at the same speed layer for layer, it still prints nearly at double speed in z-direction.
Models printed in 0.35mm "vase" mode, should print faster and for larger vases print times could be more important than layer height.
Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉
Re: UPDATED! Slic3r PE over extrusion and cooling solved
I for one would really miss 0.35. Most of my prints are medium sized objects and I never really use anything else but 0.35 - and the print quality is really good.
Maybe the print speed on each layer is roughly the same only using 0.20, but going from a layer height of 0.35 to 0.20 increases the total number of layers a lot (Slic3r generates 75 layers for the LCD cover using 0.35 and 130 layers using 0.20).
Many of my prints takes typically between maybe 3 to 8 hours to finish on my MK2 (which is a very long wait). If 0.35 goes away on the MK3, that printer would for me be a major downgrade compared to the MK2.
My big problem is that I have just sold my MK2 to get an MK3, in the hope that besides all the other benefits the new printer offers, I would be able to get some extra print speed out of it.
Please keep the 0.35.

You can just replicate the profile yourself if you really need it 🙂
