TMC Driver Overtemp
Hello everyone,
Recently assembled my MK3 kit and got a few nice test prints off - whilst I was working on dialing the first layer height in and finishing calibration, the printer showed a "TMC Driver Overtemp" error and refused to enter any other state, every when power cycled or reset. I tried flashing the firmware with all motors unplugged with not luck. I logged into Pronterface and this is what the error reads as:
Anyone have any ideas? I've emailed [email protected] and haven't gotten a response yet.
Re: TMC Driver Overtemp
It’s is very dry in your home?
The problem persisting over firmware flashes seems to indicate that it’s an hardware error. The TMC drivers seem to be very sensitive to static shocks and will malfunction if unintentionally zapped. And depending on your environment, especially if it’s quite dry, you can be more or less likely to generate static electricity. Which is easily transferred to the board during assembly.
Ultimachine is aware of the problem. Prusa I don’t know.
If you can’t get any life signs out of it you might need a replacement board.

This forum has a search option, searching for "TMC Driver Overtemp" finds this thread, which may provide some insight: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3-f30/tmc-driver-overtemp-t13391.html ^_^
In short, it is most likely a hardware error, talk to Prusa Support and they will help you. Try the live chat, they can possibly give faster response than the email.
