Thick layers? Maximum extrusion?
My MK3 is printing great and I'm curious about printing larger parts fast at lower resolution using a bigger nozzle and thicker layers.
I've read about maximum layer heights being about (.6 * nozzle diameter), so a .8 mm nozzle should max out at .48 mm layers, maybe round up to .5 mm.
But how much filament can I push out? Looking for details on the E3D V6, I've found maximum rates quoted between 8 and 15 mm^3/sec. What is it? And how would I set a maximum extrusion rate in Slic3r?
Thanks for any clues or tips!
Re: Thick layers? Maximum extrusion?
I've read 80% nozzle diameter for max layer height. The 0.3 layer height is already > 60% of the nozzle diameter for the stock 0.4mm nozzle and it should print fine.
So your maximum layer height on a 0.8mm nozzle is 0.64 (or round down to 0.6mm).
You can change the speed and layer height in the filament settings and the nozzle diameter in the extruder settings.
