Suggestions for how to "tune"
I finished assembling my mk3 a few nights ago. I'm happy with it but would like to know how to get the best quality. I'm using the PLA that came with it, and Prusa Control for the slicer. I print from the SD card.
Here's a XYZ calibration cube. Obvious ringing on Y and some on X:
Here's a small cat from thingiverse. I broke a few feet off removing the supports. There's some weird looking problems other than that. This was printed at "optimal" quality. Click images for full size.
I want to print that cube again with the printer sitting on a more sturdy table. It was on an Ikea Lack table last night.
Any suggestions on where to start?
Re: Suggestions for how to "tune"
a friend of mine recommended i ditch prusacontrol asap and get into slic3r. lots more settings to get to know, and i'm still learning as well, but im not sure if prusacontrol will give you enough to work any issues out?
Re: Suggestions for how to "tune"
While it is obviously true than Slic3r gives you much more control, it also means there is a much greater chance of screwing things up as well. I speak from experience on that one 😉
And after all the stuffing around with Slic3r I went back to PrusaControl and was pleasantly surprised at how good the results actually are. Even with difficult models.
So my advice is don't be too quick to ditch it.
