Same exact issue here (x axis belt rubs on front/lower-y flange of idler). Tried pushing belt backwards out of teeth as far as possible but still rubs pretty badly. I oiled mine too but still have pretty noticeable wear on the belt after only 10 hrs printing.

I love my "noisy" mk2s...the mk3 sparks a bit of paranoia though.

my x axis belt is also forced to the front part of the idler pulley, causing a squeak. i have tried moving the belt back on the teethed part as far as it goes back into the extruder body, but it wont center itself. x axis belt tension setting in the menu says X213,(Y237).
the belt does this weird rocking thing also. has anyone found a solution to make it travel right in the center?
i feel my x belt will definitely fail prematurely due to this condition.

The rocking motion is purely a consequence of the rubbing.
When carriage moves away from the idler, the top belt is coming out of the idler. As it rubs the flange it also rides up a bit, twisting the belt. When the carriage switches direction, the lower belt rides up hence the tilt switches.
Seems like redesigning the plastic holding the idler would be a good solution.

In the assembly you probably pressed the belt all the way on that loop on the x-carriage.... instead of pressing it all the way in try to leave it at the edge of the printed part... almost in contact with the back plate, that way the belt will be pushed more to the back and probably wont rub so much in the idler.
Does that make sense? 🙂

i have the belt back as far as it will go(towards the back plate) and it is still not centered in the idler pulley, its riding on the front flange of the pulley.

Had the same problem with my MK2S - squeaking sound from x-axis pulley (very annoying). I found out, that the sound came from the belt rubbing against the inside of the pulley side. The solution, in my case, was to move the belt a little out of the holder and have the belt running more centered on the pulley.

Having the same exact issue here. And I too have the belt as far toward the backplate as it will go inside the X-carriage, and it's still very much riding on the front flange of the X-idler pulley. The squeaking noise is constant, as is belt flexing and premature wearing on the belt. it doesn't seem like anything short redesigning the printed part that houses the X-idler is going to fix this.
PRUSA support, can you please give this some attention and come up with a permeant fix? Much appreciated.

I moved the belt in the x-carriage 1-1.5mm out from fully seated on the side with the pulley. This adjustment removed the squeaking sound and made the belt run without tilting up/down.

I also currently struggle with this crooked x belt way. Currently I fail to pass the self test because of "Axis Length X".
This makes no fun...
EDIT: The self test now finishes. I had to not tighten the five screws on the x back plate not so much (untighten a little).
My belt still wiggles and makes sounds and wears off. It got a little better but still far from good! I spend several hours today on these - currently I have both belt holder sides as far out as possible.

The photo is of my MK2S, but the belt is attached the same way on MK3.
On the motor side there is no need for adjusting the belt as the motor pulley can be adjusted to match belt position.

I have that same issue but neither pushing back the belt against the backplate nor putting some grease made it really better! Any other ideas? I am a little afraid the belt won't live more then a week.

Not sure putting grease on the belt is a good idea.

It depends.... using a silicone lube wont harm the belt..... but you should just put a tiny bit on the sides =)

Has anyone tried printing some bushings for the flange? I saw someone who suggested/modified it to use some aluminum spacers. I'm wondering if you could circumvent taking the x-axis apart and instead print a small spacer that is shaped like a C, so you can press it onto the idler axle.

After overall 30 hours of printing most of the squeaky sounds of the belt has gone. I can't see any particular wear neither on the belt nor on idler or plastic parts.
I'll have an eye on that but for now only the rattling PSU stays. But actually i don't find that too anoying.

I had quite a bit of noise on the x/y axis to begin with that sounded like it was coming from the mechanical parts of the printer. I discovered some of it was the LCD screen vibrating in the housing (just give it a pinch from behind and it goes silent).
Small piece of cardboard and now my printer is so much more quiet! 😀
Now if only it would actually print properly.

Just an update on my squeaky belt:
I adjusted my x-belt inside the x-carriage. It now sticks out slightly from the groove in the x-carriage housing. Maybe... 1 - 1.5mm sticking out from the little groove.
I then wiggled the belt so it was more center on the x-idler pulley. (Before when I tried this, the belt would simply wiggle its way back to the edge of the pulley again, and start squeaking)
With these two tweaks, my squeaking is fixed. I think I let it run way to long with the squeak problem though! There is a bunch of shaved black particles/debris inside the x-idler part... I assume it is shaved off parts from the x-axis belt. Hopefully that won't affect the life of the belt too much.
Anyway, my main point is, its fixed! Thanks all for the advice!
