Spring sheet lifting during print !
I have a big part printing with PETG on my MK3 and just saw that the steel sheet is Lifting from the heatbed. Probably the shrinkage of the Material is pulling it up against the force of the Magnets ! 👿 😯
Model sliced with Slic3r Prusa Edtion and settings for generic PETG
Re: Spring sheet lifting during print !
I would rather have the spring sheet lifting than the print itself. Guess this is normal behavior with materials like ABS or PETG. As long as it does not lift on all sides 😉
Don't forget to check out rnldnkp.com 😀
Re: Spring sheet lifting during print !
Considering the horror stories with PETG shrinking and sticking so bad it cracks glass beds, I'd say that's somehow expected ... but bad to hear.
Wonder if some binder clips holding the sheet to the bed would be strong enough to work or damage/shortcircuit the bed copper traces...
Re: Spring sheet lifting during print !
I would think the part is warping and pulling the sheet with it. As mentioned, maybe binder clips will help in this situation.

Re: Spring sheet lifting during print !
I expected that the magnets are strong enough to keep the spring sheet down.
What is the use if i cant do prints that use the full 250mm of the Bed ?
Re: Spring sheet lifting during print !
Thats just a limit of the MK3, if you don't want that to happen you should have got an mk2 😉

Stronger Magnets wouldn't necessarily solve the problem of filaments that are prone to warping. If they are going to warp they will warp, either lifting and/or taking some of the surface with it if it's stuck on really good. There's always the poor mans enclosure route as an attempt to work around. Kind of surprises me that Prusa never tapped into a potential market by having an official enclosure kit for the I3. Binder clips to further secure the sheet are always an option for certain prints.

Though would be fun to try to pull off a sheet with some rare earth magnets attached to each other if they could withstand the heat 🙂 There's always the poor mans enclosure route as an attempt to work around. I totally agree. If I had better skills I would design a simple kit and sell it on ebay. But alas, I do not. I am sure quite a few would buy one, including me!!!
Re: Spring sheet lifting during print !
I'm sure this has to be a compromise; Magnets that are too strong will elicit cries of, "I find it too difficult to remove the steel plate!"

So my concerns came out true. Earlier thread: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3-f30/wrapping-bed-instead-of-wrapping-print-possible-is-t6911.html
Still, I'm pretty impressed since this print would take every surface to its limits.

i think the price range can be a problem and shipping. How much would you be willing to pay for it for example?

Electro magnets? On while printing? 😀

Wouldn't have to be super fancy, expensive or pre-built, just functional. They could design it as a kit, even some extrusion with sized clear plastic and mounting points for putting most electronics (control board/PSU) outside. Not for everyone but could be an option for many.

I dunno... Crap quality maybe $50 plus shipping. Nice quality and build work. As much as $150 plus shipping. It would probably be best sold as a kit like IKEA. But, these are both stabs in the dark as I have no idea what the materials would cost.

I ordered some 1mm and 1.5 steel sheets. They will be stiffer than the spring sheet and hopefully flex enough to pop the print.
I did a short test at work with a 1.25 mm steel sheet and i could flex it, but our Parts are all painted so i couldn't borrow some .... 😉

[Irony on] Good idea, than the part pops of the sheet and the sheet stays flat.... 🙄 [Irony off]

I dont think they can compete financially with the ikea lack enclosure, like I have
Re: Spring sheet lifting during print !
yea its not worth to make/ship enclosures, if you are having the money for a prusa and the inclination to own a printer, you are diy your enclosure for <30$ from ikea/plastic bins/Thermasheath
