reading up on the 3D tech after being out of it for 3 years 🙂
Re: So what is everyone doing to get ready for the new printer?
Downloaded Fusion 360 and watching videos and designing stuff. After numerous tries I can design a box with a hinge. They have a hobby licence that seems good forever or until it isn't. Also been researching filament. HobbyKing seems to be the low cost leader. Other than that just keep waiting for an Email that my instrument has shipped and how to explain to my wife why I spent $800 on a 3D printer. 😳
Other than that if the delay shipping I am going to bury myself in the snow (like Cartmen) to induce suspended animation. Please dig me out of the snow bank when they start shipping.

one of the benefits of being divorced... not having to explain to the other half! 🙂

I am thinking about building an enclosure like Knickohr‘s enclosure.
See this thread:

My current plans are to make it wider, square actually 60x60x65cm. I also found different corner connectors and if I would use 3mm plexiglass instead of 5mm I could use fitting rubber seals on the slits in the extrusion.
But it is pricy. My current BOM is about 190€ plus some tools that I don’t have yet.
Plus extras it is easily over 200€. But it looks so nice. And spacey.
But how much is an Ikea lack based enclosure with plexiglass? Maybe half the price?
