Re: Sneezle's MK3 ( noob printer)

try variable layer height to improve the curved detail especially the circular end where the contours are most visible

regards Joan

Thanks Joan,

i will try and do that...

maybe stupid Question but where can i find that option 😳 ?????

the variable layer height is accessible in the Slic3r Plater page, select the item then choose the layer editing tab... and you get windows like below, the two pictures shown indicate raw slicing,, with heavy contour lines and the about 66% of the same model set at a lower layer height which smooths the contour lines

the rear model is at original layer height

front left has a small section at lower layer height, and front right has about 66% smoothed with lower layer height!

My pleasure. Ftge beauty of this feature is tgat you can apply it to sections of a model. Eg the wnd of tge handle and the finger holes of your sword where the contours are most visible

Since i'm in the medical field i descided to let my first big 30+ hour print be a anatomical skull.

First part is done and as suggested i used variable layer hight and slowed down external perimeter.

This part was printed:

With 10% infill and no brim or support

I think it turned out good, one layershift at end of print (teeth) but i can clean that up fine.

Any comments or suggestions are always welcome

Now printing top of the skull and the lower jaw

I didn't read through the whole thread but do you know what version printed parts you have? Specifically x-axis ends and z-axis ends?

Re: Sneezle's MK3 ( noob printer)

I see those defects in every calibration cube i see posted here (including mine). It happens at the start/end of the layers. To confirm, use the setting that moves the seam to the back. The corners will look better, but the seam will still be ugly. I had marginal success with cura, but I’ve given up for now. I’m waiting for whatever fixes they are working on for the extrusion inconsistency before I waste more time on it.

Hi Sneezle,

can you let me know how the polymaker polybox works for you when you get it.
And also where can I buy the green cable wraps? My printer was ordered 18-01 and is now in transit.....

Polybox works fine for me so far. At this point, since i have not found a good spot to put it so i can run it straigh from the box to the mk3. Im using it as storage box to keep my filament controlled at the moment.

As for the cable sleeve its flexo PET. And i got it from a local online store www.vanoostvoorn.nl .
or you can buy it here: www.wirecare.com

Hope it helps 😀
