Print from SD card or via USB
Just wondered what most people do - do you print from the card or via the USB interface using Pronterface (for example)
I am fairly new to this but purely from an engineering point of view there must be a limit to the number of times you can insert the SD card (both on the PC and the printer) on the other hand being independent of the PC for long prints seems a good idea!
Pronterface seems to do the job ok but I do get the odd checksum error
Re: Print from SD card or via USB
One answer to your question is to use a FlashAir card. That way you can upload to the card over wifi, so it never needs to be removed from the printer hence not wearing out the socket.
Having said that the entire LCD assembly with card reader can be picked up off Amazon fairly cheaply, so a failed sd card socket is not a big deal.
I print mostly via Octoprint, over wifi to Raspberry Pi but as you say that does require the PC so I do still uses the manual sd card method. All work pretty well.

Hi - that FlashAir card sounds good - will have a look for one, thanks for the reply 🙂
