Re: OctoPrint for Original Prusa i3 MK3
I guess the "prusa provided" octoprint image is also compatible to the Raspi 3 and not limited to the Pi Zero?
Re: OctoPrint for Original Prusa i3 MK3
For now I can't guarantee it. The image was tested on RPi Zero W and there are some changes to the config due to the serial connection. I will test the image on RPi 3 tonight and let you know.

Well, if the only changes to the original image are those mentioned above (bluetooth and the serial stuff), I can use the stock octoprint image anyway since I want to connect my raspi 3 via usb anyway...for now ;).
PS: if you ship my printer today, I can test it for you 😛
Re: OctoPrint for Original Prusa i3 MK3
Very nice!
Can we get an official statement if it is safe to connect a raspberry pi3 (which connects to a webcam or a pi cam) to the EINSY just like the Pi Zero W?
My question is about the power consumption. So basically: how much power can the EINSY supply on its Pi header?

I am running the Prusa OctoPrint image with RPi 3 via USB. So far so good.
I have both a Logitech HD 720p USB camera and a Raspberry Pi camera and they both work in Prusa OctoPrint right after install for visual and time lapse. No configuration changes were needed.
I had been running two instances of the 'stock' image on the Pi 3 via two USB ports with settings adjusted for the MK3 and MK2/S. I will try the same config with the Prusa image when I get time but I see no reason why it won't work.
Note: I did try the Pi zero on the MK3 and was greatly disappointed with the performance aspect vs. the Pi 3. Slower loading, slower interactive communication, video, etc. Having two printers it was an easy decision for me to go back the Pi 3 and use it as an OctoPrint 'server' for both. Twice the memory, 4 times the cores and enough USB ports to go crazy 🙂

Re: OctoPrint for Original Prusa i3 MK3
Any word if there is still the issue using a webcam (pi cam in my case) with the Pi Zero w ongoing? Or has that been corrected?
Re: OctoPrint for Original Prusa i3 MK3
Sorry to kind of hijack, is there a benefit of using Prusa's build of Octoprint vs the standard one if using a Raspberry Pi 3? I have a Pi Zero WiFi but don't feel like messing with it at the moment.
Re: OctoPrint for Original Prusa i3 MK3
I am on the latest release of the firmware for the MK3 and I have been printing with my Pi3B via USB for a while without any big issues with the exception of the filament sensor misreport errors causing all kinds of issues between Octoprint and MK3. I decided to implement the header pin and implement the RPI UART to clean up cabling and also to be able to someday implement the newest features that may be coming implementing GPIO 22 and 23. I can start a print and it even seems to eventually succeed sometimes but will randomly pause the print over and over again and wait sometimes up to 30 sec before continuing. Obviously this causes quality issues. When the pause happens this is what is reported in the terminal.
Recv: echo:Enqueing to the front: "G1 E-3 F200"
Recv: echo:Enqueing to the front: "G1 E3 F200"
Sometimes it also shows an error -
Recv: Error:Line Number is not Last Line Number+1, Last Line: 7645
Recv: Resend: 7646
Sometimes i get this -
Send: N13838 G1 X115.020 Y79.400 E0.4172*110
While I was just testing this It finally failed the print and this is the error. It is definitely a Serial issue -
Communication timeout while printing, trying to trigger response from printer.
Configure long running commands or increase communication timeout if that happens regularly on specific commands or long moves.
Send: N13839 M105*39
Recv: Error:No Line Numbh checksum,
Last Line: 13838
Recv:
Sometimes is just pauses on the gcode line and does not give any other indication.
Does anyone have any recommendations for why this would be the case. I did follow all the steps for Bluetooth UART etc.

I went back to USB between Pi3 and the MK3 and completely error free in the communication stream. No stops and completed prints...

Any cha ce of posting settings? And are you u slicing on pi or off?

As far as settings in octoprint they are exactly what is recommended in this post. I did add the serial interface and specifically choose it as the connection with baud set to auto. The baud rate did settle on 115 which is the same as usb. I never slice in octoprint. I did try both starting a print in octoprint from the sd and also uploading directly to octoprint. When printing the files uploaded to octoprint the scenario above happens. The sd print also is affected because even though the gcode is coming from the sd if the serial is unreliable it waits for the connection and still causes havoc in the print.
Re: OctoPrint for Original Prusa i3 MK3
I'm trying to connect my rpi3 via usb but it won't connect fully. My MK3 restarts but then octoprint shows not connected after a few seconds. Do i still need to activate the octoprint setting in the mk3 lcd menu if connecting via usb or change something (e.g. baud rate) on the octopi? I was running this octopi successfully with another printer before.

As long as you use the USB port on the top of the EINSY board, do not activate the RPi port in the printer's menu. No need to modify any values for connection, all should be auto. Tweaks are needed only, while using GPIO pins. I suggest getting another SD card and doing clean install.
