Noise On Y Axis Movements
Hi:
Below are two examples of the noise my new Mk3 (assembled by Prusa) makes when it travels in the "Y" axis. I think the higher the speed the more this happens. The first video demonstrates a very loud "honking" noise on long passes of extrusion. The second one isolates the noise during a direction reversal.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to mitigate this? Prusa support has been responsive on other startup issues but have said there's nothing they can do about this. This is pretty frustrating as this thing was marketed as a fast and quiet printer worth the money.
Do other Mk3s out there exhibit this same behavior? I have seen other videos of noise but nothing like these.
I'm close to asking for a new one or returning this one. I'm not sure what else is out there that advertises similar speed and build volume at a similar price point.

I'm thinking your linear bearing clamps could be severely over-tightened and/or out of alignment and/or in need of some lube.
Re: Noise On Y Axis Movements
Hi:
If I turn off the printer and try to push the bed or extruder myself I can do it with some initial resistance but no noises.
ie it's only when the motors are used that this sound is made.
Would this counterindicate an issue with the linear bearing clamps?
Re: Noise On Y Axis Movements
I'm having same noise. Did you ever determine what it was?

Similar noises
Re: Noise On Y Axis Movements
I have the sounds too, just a lot quieter than you have.
Re: Noise On Y Axis Movements
By the way, I ended up getting an RMA for that unit and my new one is whisper quiet.
