Re: New Drivers And Firmware (Dec 30th)

Updated everything (firmware/software), recalibrated, and now doing a benchy print using the same eSUN PETG (black unfortunately, hard to see detail in pictures). using the same filament profile as before on RC3 (same as generic PETG, but 80C bed temperature, 1.73mm filament, and .95 extrusion multiplier. Still playing with the multiplier to see if there's any value to be gained there, but didn't want to change another variable between the prints. I will update with my findings.

just need to mention that the new firmware is for MK3 only, while the new drivers are for the MK2/S/MMU as well.

Re: New Drivers And Firmware (Dec 30th)

I was successful in downloading the new firm ware for my MK3. It was installed with Firmware Updater.
I then tried to check the first layer.
From "calibration" to "first layer cal" then yes to "PLA loaded". The bed and extruder heated to the requested value of 210 and 55.
Then "Err Mintemp" appeared. Then it checked all 9 points.
and it stops in the front left front corner (home) and says: "adjusting Z: -525". This is the previous Z value that worked well for my machine.

I went ahead and test printed the "Prusa sign" as a test and everything went well.
Any comments about the Min Temp error? Could it be my room was too cool when I started up? The print and the temp read outs looked good.

Benchy while printing looked better than before internally, but externally looks about the same in PETG, for what it's worth. In other words, looks fairly good, but tons of whiskers and ghosting/ringing.

Haven't swapped in PLA to test, as I prefer more durable filament, but suspect it would be the same minus the whiskers.

Re: New Drivers And Firmware (Dec 30th)

I just installed new FW. Now question "is color ok" is shown (it wasn't showing with 138FW). However, i'm not quite sure why there's "autoload filament" entry in the menu - if i see correct it's no point to be there. It was better in FW138 when 4th entry was "unload filament". If i click on it message appears like "autoload is on, just insert filament...."

Now it's just extra one click down needed... ?

Or am i missing something?

Other than that i must say all compliments to Prusa team, it's just before new year and they are still at full steam working...

Just installed the new profiles and here the perimeter overlap is 25%, could it be that your previous profile didn't get overwritten.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Maybe. There is no .ini file anymore. How does one update them?

I updated my firmware and still have loads of issues with octoprint pausing my print jobs. Using octoprint stand alone as just a viewing agent and the wife as a click here do this person. Hope they get all the issues worked out soon.

I installed the 2.1.1 driver pack on a clean virtual machine and extracted the profiles. Github seems not to be updated...
Manual installation is just to copy the files to the position given in the desktop MK3 slic3r link.

I can do this. But I don’t think Prusa realizes that the profiles don’t update automatically. They rushed out this update to address issues people are seeing, but those same people may not get the change since they were already running the older slic3r and the old profiles stick. You used to be able to load ini config to force it but not anymore.

Re: New Drivers And Firmware (Dec 30th)

So I got my printer a couple of weeks ago (pre-built) and just got it set up. I printed a benchy form the SD with no adjustments and got bow warping. I also updated to the newest firmware and slicr. I sliced the benchy in the new slicr with new settings and results. are below. Really not much of a change.

I do want to say I the printer has been pretty awesome, this is my first 3d printer.

On mac, run Help -> Configuration assistant and check reset user profiles

AutoLoad works as before, we added the menu for people confused about missing load filament menu when autoload was on.

I wouldn't even use OctoPrint as a viewing agent. When I did that on a long print, I noticed that the printer sometimes complains about the temperature polling being an incorrect M code. And at one point, the printer just stopped entirely with the hotend still on. I suspect it was misinterpreting the temp poll. That was printing from SD with OctoPrint (on USB port) just monitoring temp.

the octoprint is stand alone, not hooked to anything but wifi so I can only see the camera image. No data is shown.

Yes, jokes are very funny, but could we have less of the casual sexism in the forum please?
