Re: My MK3 is Kevin McAllister!

Hopefully it's a mechanical problem with the transport and not with the package. It scares me to think that they may be picking printer parts up and putting them back into a damaged box. The old saying "When it rains it pours" and with 600 miles left to travel, the waiting and potential problems are not over yet.

Holy crap... that's a scary thought!!!

I doubt that would be the case. I think they would have another approach on cases like that.

My package did make it to the US this morning and has been cleared for delivery. However, the delivery pRobles are not over yet, this it what UPS emailed to me:

"Your package scheduled for delivery on Tuesday, 12/05/2017 may be delayed due to unexpected circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Exception Reason: A mechanical failure has caused a delay. We will update the delivery date as soon as possible.
Exception Resolution: Delivery will be rescheduled for Saturday."

Mine was also shipped and arrived in Kentucky only to delayed. Funny part was “Arrived and scheduled for Saturday deliver” followed very quickly with “Delayed due to mechanical failure”. The anticipation is real..

Re: My MK3 is Kevin McAllister!

I wonder if they have a list of excuses and select the one that they think is the most believable. Mechanical failure of what? The conveyer belt? The snow plow? If your package is headed south toward Florida like mine, then a truck breaking down on the road. But it has not left the UPS hub. Just sounds like a fabricated excuse to me. Just hope it get moving again soon.

I got ‘departure scan’ from Koeln early this morning Glocal time, then arrival in Kentucky! Hopefully they fixed the mechanical problem.

My printer got delayed in Koeln 2 days. Had departure scans on 12-9, and 12-11. But arrived in Kentucky this morning, and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow!

I had a delivery last year delayed an extra day due to “Extreme Weather Conditions in Philadelphia” Since it was actually a rather moderate day, I called their bluff. The person I spoke to had an accent that was clearly not from the Philly region. All she would say was that the computer said “Extreme Weather Conditions” and that she had no way to get more detailed information about what in particular was extreme that day. And there was no one she would be able to even contact who could.

If it were a mechanical failure I would have had a “guaranteed delivery” claim. But weather problems don’t count.

Re: My MK3 is Kevin McAllister!

I think they all give you a line of BS when you call. I have a package that is supposed to arrive tomorrow via FEDEX. I live in Georgia (US) and the package took 2 days to get from Texas to a town 20 miles (32 kilometers) from my home as of yesterday. It is supposed to be delivered today, but the latest tracking shows it going to Washington State, 2,682 miles (4316 kilometers) from my home. A phone call and online chat both led to a bunch of canned bullshit answers.

Re: My MK3 is Kevin McAllister!

Mine was in Koeln for three days, arrived at my house today. Apparently. I’m in park city, UT, and won’t see it until Friday. 😩

Re: My MK3 is Kevin McAllister!

Well, my printer finally did make it home yesterday. I constructed it in about 4 hours, and will hopefully work out the software and be up and running tonight. I will leave a couple of build notes and suggestions on the other thread for that purpose, but I did want to post a small update.

For anyone else stuck in the same predicament and feeling irritated, please remember how amazing it is to be able to get a small box halfway around the world for a few bucks! 😀
