I've created the attached profile with settings for Cura 3.1; largely copied over from the Prusa Slic3r '0.20mm FAST MK3' preset. I haven't tested them yet, but I don't see why they wouldn't work. The acceleration values for travel movements might need tweaking, but otherwise should be good.

* 0.2 layer height
* cubic infill (my personal preference)
* 30% infill (equiv of 'dense' in prusa control)
* supports enabled (zigzag - tweak as needed for each print, or just turn off if desired)

I haven't transferred any of the finer print settings yet as i'm mainly printing larger things at the moment, and honestly, the 0.2 quality is pretty darned good anyway 🙂

Did a bit of a test today; seems that the infill rate of 200mm/s is too high- probably because there's no overall flow limit in place (as this value works fine from slic3r, which has a maximum flow rate limit in place).

Dropping the entire print to ~70% speed stopped the skipped steps on extrusion, so an infill speed of about 130mm/s should be safe 🙂
Would recommend reduced initial layer speeds too, just because 🙂

Will test some more and post updated profile.

I took your suggestion Darren and dropped infill speed. I set print speed down from 200 to 100 cause 200 looked high? Maybe I should try it.

Also, I turned off "ignore small Z-gaps" as that has messed up mechanical prints in the past. I was going to carefully watch it print but got distracted so now I just have a nice part mostly done. Will check top surface, but bottom surface looked good while going down.

With the changes as described, it certainly works.

I find the top surfaces come out better in S3r, overhang on a Benchy bow was a little worse, as was the bridging on the roof. Both are acceptable, but certainly superior in S3r. More ringing with CURA. There's a little layer stacking/extrusion issue as well.

The other issue I'm getting is these bad top surfaces, and I think it's due to the "linearlization" that JP has been talking about being out of current firmware but due back in the next one.

See these suitcase tops (3x4 cm) and the zoomed-on sht. Clearly the corners are over-extruded while the "straight aways" seems to be a little light.

I was going to mess with top layer line width, etc, but I think perhaps the right answer is waiting on the new firmware? What results are others getting?

A small improvement I'd suggest (I guess this came from using the MK2 printer's defaults) - add a bit of retraction after the priming pulse. I keep getting some of the mess leading to poor brims or mess in my part.

Similarly, there's drooling going on during the mesh bed leveling process. So I'm pulling back a millimeter before that step in addition to the 0.8 mm before moving to actually print the part.

The first retract is completely undone during the priming line. I've yet to test this specific code with the retract at the top, but I will soon. 🙂

Have there been any improvements or developments on this front? I'd love to see the .ini files of other users. My prints are suffering from some serious strings, though the supports are better than slic3r.

This profile works. It shows up as "mk2", and it may have the printer height set a bit short, but I've done 50+ successful prints in a variety of materials and sizes with this. There are other oddball entries on there which you'd likely want to ignore.

This appears to be the wrong file type for import. Any way that you could forward the correct printer import file 🙂
