Making my Own Flexible Bed Surface for Nylon Filaments
I plan on printing a lot of Nylon with my soon to be shipped MK3, but from my understanding, Nylon will NOT stick at all to pei, even with hairspray or glue stick. After doing a bit of reading, apparently Nylon sticks really well to Garolite (G-10). Looking online, you can buy Garolite in very thin sheets. So I was thinking about making my own magnetic bed by laminating garolite to sheet metal. I need help brainstorming this out.
What thickness is the magnetic bed that comes with the mk3? Has anyone taken calipers to it?
What are the exact dimensions of the magnetic heat bed?
What would be the best adhesive to join the sheet metal and garolite together?
Should I find a garolite with a bit of texture, or is smooth adequate?

The sheet is 1.12 mm with the Pei sheets.
I made a "heavy duty" version from 1mm galvanized steel because my prints where lifting the spring sheet.
I just ordered a plate 252x241mm, which fits quite well.
I didn't use the alingment pins on the back
Glue will be an issue due to the Temperaturs. There is a double sided tape from 3M which works up to 120°C. Look for 3M 467MP or 468

Yeah, I figured the adhesive would be the difficult part, but I found a great brochure on 3Ms website. Some of these adhesives are good to 300F or 150C which is kinda cool.

I don't know if you've seen this, but this may be very useful to you.
Summary:
1) you can get it to stick to PEI... with a little stronger glue stick and like 20 minutes of prep... yeah, no
2) Gerolite on glass/aluminum/steal seems like a great idea
3) with single layer of simple washable glue stick, you don't need to heat the bed.
May save you some time in your experimentation.
