Those beads are ferrite
yep, didn't know the right word for it.
and i just use a stick to check if thats the rattle.
wil use some glue (non conductive) on it
strange thing is in the PSU there is al kinds of "GLUE" on components. (also rattle prevention?)

Power supplies normally have components glued down to suppress vibration due to the alternating AC current, electrical switching frequencies thru some parts causing the noise and mechanical noise as in this case. I would recommend 100% clear silicone.
UNPLUG THE POWER CORD FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE STICKING ANYTHING INSIDE THE PSU!!!
It's a very easy and simple fix if it truly is the source of the noise.

Thank you guys for following up on this, I am starting to become thankful that I won't get mine till January, hopefully alot of the issues you guys are finding will be fixed, or at least there will be solutions.

Please keep in mind that power supplies can contain LETHAL voltages even after being unplugged for several hours!
I work on power supplies from time to time so I don't mind opening it up to find the source of the rattle, I'm just waiting for PR to confirm if I can do this without voiding the warranty.

I also saw on Thomas Sanladerer's build that he felt the rattle was due to a MOSFET heat sink screw attachment being loose. The screw and washer going through the MOSFET was rattling.

He reviewed the MK3 MMU unit they sent him I know, as I watched it. 😆 Also if you glue those make very sure it has dried and cured before you power it back on, many glues are conductive while un-cured.

that was the first thing i checked. (mosfet)
and it is fastened so no lose parts there
just see what PR comes up with.
and for the paranoia of high currents.
yha hope everybody uses common sense.
I don't open the PSU, because you can reach the "rattle snake" from the out side.

That was an mmu preinstalled on a mk2s. It wasn't a mk3. I watched the same video and had to do a double take myself.

Just adding my "me too" to this post. Ordering some 100% silicon sealant just in case this ends up being the problem, and to have on hand since I loathe not having what I need to fix stuff 😉

back and after installing PSU still a rattle. (no glue applied)
but noticed some other thing....
used a philips head and tightened this one, less rattle 😆
can anybody verify this ?

I too have a rattle, but its coming from the right trapezoidal screw. If i only slightly press it with my thumb on the top part where it goes into the upper support the rattle stops.
Maybe worth testing before sticking stuff into the PSU.

I'm also experiencing noise from the PSU, but I'd describe it as more of a clicking than a rattling.
I've confirmed it is not the ferrite beads making the noise on my power supply.
EDIT: Here's a video. Sounds very similar to a video that was posted earlier in the thread.

I have both the clicking and the rattle/buzz on movements on mine.
Mine rattled a lot like what maximilian.r had. On my MK3, it was the little clear plastic flap covering the power connections. I think the steppers moving in a certain way makes it resonate. I put some 3M VHB tape on the 3 sides and that fixed it.

I think the clicking is normal. Has something to do with the heatbed maintaining temperature.

Sorry, I used the totally wrong YouTuber. The review I saw was on the C.R.T. channel on YouTube (sorry, didn't get the fellow's name). So correct, Thomas hasn't done a review yet of the MK3.

Hi all,
Good news and bad news!
Good news: I have located the source of the rattle. It is coming from the plastic insulation sheet between the back of the PSU mainboard and the bottom of the PSU case (the side that faces left towards the Einsy box when viewing the printer from the front). Using a non-conductive tool, I can press on the plastic sheet through the slots on the bottom of the PSU (again this is the side that faces left when the PSU is mounted) and the noise immediately stops. As soon as I release pressure on the sheet, the noise comes back.
Bad news: I have yet to figure out a tidy permanent solution to the noise. Getting good access to this sheet from inside the PSU requires complete removal of the PSU mainboard and disassembly of several PSU components which are cemented in place. I think maybe you could put hot glue or something in through the slots on the bottom, but that could be messy and I'm not sure it will work. If anyone finds a good solution, please post it here.
Here is my totally not permanent solution of jamming a zip tie inside. 😀

It seems every PSU rattles in slightly different ways for different reasons. Maybe all psu's have always rattled, and we haven't heard it since the printers haven't been quiet enough?
