Help getting Cura 3.2.0 setup
So have the printer working great with Slic3r.
But I have one set of models with 0% infil that don't print well with Slic3r but print find with Cura. (something about an overhang printing before a perimiter as the model designer told me).
With that I'm trying to get my Mk3 setup in Cura.
Does someone have a set of instructions for
1) Getting the machine setup? I can get the bed dimensions but Cura also would like to know Printhead settings, gantry height, and gcode (for start, end, and maybe extruder).
2) From their I should be able to setup a profile for the print as those should be just a 1 for 1 copy out of Slic3r right?
Re: Help getting Cura 3.2.0 setup
Don't have my Mk3 yet, but work with Cura almost every day using a Prusa clone as printer.
In my experience Cura doesn't care about the Printhead settings, gantry height and such. So just input your bed dimensions, check heated bed and then for starting Gcode and end Gcode you could copy that from your Slic3r installation.
An other option is to use Cura's default profile for the Mk2, and alter that in any way you see fit. 😉

Thanks yea that sounds like a plan.

I second everything here.
Hi, I'm Sean. I used to work on CNC machines.
I try to not make mistakes, but the decision is YOURS.

Re: Help getting Cura 3.2.0 setup
Do you find a profile yet? I never liked the slic3r interface and prefer cura. Dit some test whit cura but had some strange effects whith the infill of the piece.
Re: Help getting Cura 3.2.0 setup
I had trouble in sli3er on my old printer and now am use to using it so have been using cura on the mk3.
cura 3.2 has a profile already within it with a graphic of the bed so it is just fine tuning the settings. have a look in the setting, and i can post something later if you like, when i get back to my laptop.
Re: Help getting Cura 3.2.0 setup
Just tried the 3.2.1 version that just installed.
This time it had an option for the mk2 (either I missed it last time or it wasn't their).
Giving it a try now.
I'm trying just the default cura draft profile.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Overall I like Slic3r a lot, but I have a set of models that are designed to print at 0% infill that slicer has
issues with while Cura dosen't.
Re: Help getting Cura 3.2.0 setup
Yes after looking last night I had created a new one from the mk2 profile and updated the name. 😳
I have been planning on changing the setting to match the mk3 although printing with the mk2 settings has been working well.

FYI: Cura uses the gantry height and print head settings for one quite important thing: when you're using "Print sequence: One at a time", for when you're printing several smaller parts and want the printer to finish one part completely before going on to the next. Without the correct print head settings, Cura doesn't know how to space the parts to properly avoid the already printed parts.
Re: Help getting Cura 3.2.0 setup
Good point Jonas.a and indeed for printing in that manner the heat and gantry settings are important.
However i had not done that before, and thus not bothered with those settings 😉
