having a joyous time, thought i'd share my latest MK3 Project!
Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I posted as I've been so busy with work and life!
Thought i'd share with you my latest HUGE project on the MK3:
The finished rocket will be getting on for 4.4 metres in length when completed. 😆 😎

holy skirts batman. I need to get some of that activator spray, looks so handy.

It’s great stuff. Doesn’t really matter which one. You can use it a couple of ways. So, glue on one side and spray activator on the other for instant bond when they touch. Or you can stick it together and then spray the activator on. Just be aware that if you apply more glue near a part that’s had even a tiny dusting on, the tip of the glue nozzle will start to set too!

Very nice.
We seem to have similar tastes as I am currently working on an LUT for my 1:144 Revel kit model.
Actually started this before I got my printer. Currently working on the hold down clamps. Before I apply the tweaks I need to make to the model to get it to print cleanly. The grey part was printed with the R1 parts on the printer and the blue with the R2 parts on it.
Definite improvements there. I plan to print the finished design using HIPS so I can use standard model glue on it. I think LA when it is renabled will sharpen up the edges so I will not have to use filler at the joins.

Martin

Thanks Martin,
Awesome!

Nice. 3 and a bit out of 5. Then 6 J2s?

The hold down arms are progressing.
Two are done at 0.10mm layer height and the 3rd at 0.05mm layer height.
Even allowing for stringing on the 0.05mm the 0.10mm is giving better results and the artefacts on them are a result of the hood coming away from the bed. A problem I solved with the one printed at 0.05mm.
I'll print the fourth one at 0.10mm tomorrow and see how it looks.

Looking great! I am trying to work out what the maximum layer height I can print out at to speed things up a bit!
Re: having a joyous time, thought i'd share my latest MK3 Project!
In the end I played around with the extrusion multiplier in Slec3r I changed it from the default of 1 to 0.9. That gave very slight under extrusion so I tried 0.95 dramatically better but still a little stringing. Between the 0.95 and my current attempt I tweaked the model slightly as the 0.95 was good enough to show the problem areas.
So now I am printing at 0.05mm with an extrusion multiplier of 0.925. So far no stringing and no under extrusion. I can see the areas that would be fixed by LA. Bet you when that comes in I will have to tweak the extrusion multiplier slightly.
Here is a look at the tweaked model in my CAD program.

You are the ONLY person who is printing with the same extrusion multiplier I had before I took the extruder apart. (I got some flex filament, and had issues, so I put a longer Bowden tube in)
Before I took it apart I had near perfect extrusion at around .92 (surprisingly close to your .925) I just went back to my PLA, and I had *MASSIVE* under-extrusion at that! I just got a perfect extrusion test at .99 I am scratching my head right now, and I have NO idea what has changed.
Nice to see whatever it was, I wasn't the only person with this.
Hi, I'm Sean. I used to work on CNC machines.
I try to not make mistakes, but the decision is YOURS.
Please feel free to donate to my filament/maintance fund.

Cool project.
But where are you gonna put it when it is done? You have any such tall space in your house/garage?

I suppose he could always display it like NASA does with the real thing. Put it on its side.
