It's up on the Prusa downloads page as well. Don't have time to test it right yet (working remote), but was able to rebase and recompile with Linear Advance enabled. Enjoy.

For me the only thing that the new build is good at (built with or without LA) is displaying the error that the wiring for the filament sensor is wrong - this makes the selftest fail, always.

Currently in the middle of a second 3h print using this FW and OctoPrint. Haven't encountered any comm error yet.
Since I haven't been using it earlier I must say -> LA is awesome !
@Brigandier - Is there any way to get rid of that nasty warning after the printer is turned on ? Or make it go away on its own instead of having to click the button on the printers panel ?

Careful, it's pretty much confirmed that LA calculations break Octoprint when serial communication lags out.

......My unit is a pre-assembled unit and I only found two loose screws on the y axis idler block. I have to say my unit prints unbelievable well. I'm using linear advance via octopi (pi3) and USB port. Using latest beta firmware and the prints just keep getting better and better. At some point I need to upload some photos.
I was thinking about your post... The two screws on the Y idler may actually have not been loose. That's how Prusa adjusts belt tension... I'm interested in seeing some of your linear advance using ocotoprint prints as you are the only person I can find that doesn't have problems using the two together.

I haven't taken the time to check how to remove this, but considering there are some unapproved code edits I made that Prusa hasn't merged in to the MK3 branch yet, I figured I better not. I am curious how many people are using this firmware with Octoprint, having issues, then contacting Prusa support.
If I get some spare time this evening, I will see if I can disable it and send you a copy in PM. 🙂

Im getting slightly confused by all these releases and selffixes of LA.
When is LA permanently coming? And how much impact has LA anyways?

Linear Advance calculations cause enough delay that it lags serial communication out breaking Octoprint. Prusa disabled it for everyone to fix the Octoprint snag instead of just giving us a quick on/off option in the menu. Those of us who print with sdcard experience no issues. Considering the quality / accuracy boost LA gives, I went and re-enabled it in the firmware and have been posting my builds here for the sdcard users.
Sorry for the amount of files floating around. The Prusa forums lock your ability to edit posts after a time, so I have to make new posts when I have another LA enabled version of the firmware ready. 🙂
As for when Prusa is going to fix it, I have no idea other than "it's coming". As for if you are using an LA enabled version or not, chances are low that it's enabled, unless you have never done a firmware update since you received the printer. When it is turned off, you may have bulges on your corners or over extrusion on your solid layers when near perimeters. If you are using one of my firmware releases, you will get a warning that you are using an unsupported build at your own risk when you turn the printer on.

I'm an expectant father (MK3 ETA March/April) and new to the forum so please go easy on me 🙂
Given an indeterminate fix date and the fact that only USB users are reported to be affected by the issue, has anyone submitted an enhancement request to make enabling/disabling LA configurable so the rest of the users can use LA? I haven't looked at the code, but I'd be shocked if the effort required to implement this significant. It might generally be a good thing to have the ability to toggle it on/off as a feature.
If the root cause is processor resource related and exacerbated by the load of USB communications processing, I'm left concerned with the following question.. Are there additional processing conditions besides using USB which can cause this issue?
I plan to start sifting through the GitHub change logs and source code over the next week so maybe I should keep my yap shut until I do that 😉

Literally around half an hour ago Prusa released a new blog post detailing this:
Upcoming firmware 3.2.0 RC1 approx. in the second week of March will reintroduce Linear Advance and it will also bring linearity correction for the MK3 extruder. The idea behind it is that stepper motor with micro stepping doesn’t always move linearly but pulsates as it moves between the steps. This can create sort of moire effect on the object surface. New Trinamic drivers we use on the MK3 can be adjusted to compensate this effect.
Couple weeks off. Your baby will be deformity free. 🙂

sadly I can report I too am having this issue. Bummer because filament detection is more useful to me then any benefits I see from this firmware. I saw a post a few pages back (page 2) saying a power cycle fixed it for them but have had no such luck.
Forgot to add, going to prev firmware did not fix, still having filament sensor issue

For clarity, it's not just USB. It affects any printing via serial communication... which includes OctoPrint->USB and PC->USB printing, but also includes a Rasberry Pi connected to the EINSY accessory port (the accessory port and the USB port utilize the same serial channel on the EINSY).

I too had the filament sensor issue after upgrading but the fix was simple. Hold the screen knob down whilst booting - select Factory Reset - All Data. Then run through the startup wizard again and it will work.
On a related note - I am currently running the PINDA temp calibration routine and it's been over an hour and it still hasn't finished. Has anyone else been able to run this on the latest 3.1.2 firmware or will it sit there with a piping hot bed and show no signs of completing? How long is it supposed to take? Prusa live chat wouldn't help as they were too busy 🙁

Just found out that it looks like the PINDA temperature calibration function is broken, having read others comments on Github 🙁 I think I'll factory reset, run the self-test in the hope the default PINDA temp tables restore and await another firmware release in a few weeks!

Well that's odd then... Either there are subtle differences in the pre-release and release code of 3.1.2 or differences in PINDA or differences in Einsy board? I have a grey cabled PINDA, 0.4 Einsy board. Just received the printer on the 28th so it's pretty fresh off the line.

Where exactly on GitHub did you see references to Pinda temp calibration being broken? I don't see anything about that.
