filament to leave loaded or unloaded in extruder

Hi all
what is the general consensus on leaving the filament loaded in the extruder from day to day, should you unload the filament when finished using the printer for the day or leave it loaded for the next days printing ?
what is best practice to keep extruder in best working order?

Depends on the filament to a great degrwe
Hygroscopic filament and nylon should be stored in sealed containers with desicant. I typically use petg tpu and pla. And leave them in the extruder

Dust can be also an issues.
My rule of thumb is 24 hours for PLA/ABS is ok to keep. PETG/TPEE/Nylon immediate remove.

I see no difference in PLA or PETG wrt keeping it on the printer or removing it. Both seem reasonably resistant to moisture. My PLA or PETG stays on the spool holder for weeks in a row and I never had any issues.

Hi
thanks for the responses nikolai.r, joan.t and joris.m that's helped me make up my mind whether to unload or leave filament loaded in the extruder from day to day.
