I have both colours (i got Orange by mistake so was sent a black set too).

The black are more shiny, so tend to show defects.. where as you dont see them on the orange.. but they are pretty much the same.

As i had both colours, i bult mine in black, but used a few orange parts here and there for effect...

Can anyone comment how the finish is on the all black version vs. the orange? Read somewhere the all black had surface issues but maybe that was an older post and has been fixed. I tend towards black if it looks fine.

You would have to re-read that post and see if they purchased orange and printed out their own black if they didn't mention it. I ordered orange and I'm still waiting, but over time seeing everyone's build videos and pictures posted with the black option I think it's cool.

Here are a couple of parts in Orange and Black.. Its probably not easy to see in the picture but the black has a shiny eliment to it, so you can see some of the flaws.. If you look closely, the Orange and Black are identical, but the finish on the Orange just looks better..

But personally, I am not keen on the Orange and am glad I went for Black, even if the finish isn't quite as good.

I have a black one and I love it.

I was afraid of getting tired of orange one, and it will be easier if i have to reprint some parts

And the weird colored Noctua fan looks less out of place if not being mixed with orange. 😉

I have STILL not finished the build yet, as I keep waiting and upgrading parts.. But its almost done so will send some later.. I just went with Orange bearing holders on the Z axis, and an Orange Knob (sounds a bit rude).

And I also used the Orange belt holder, which you can't see. My reason was that its clearer where the belt goes, and easier to see that the belt is seated.. A black belt in a black holder, in the shadow of the bed was impossible to see.. That said, I am eventually upgrading to a 16T idler, so have printed RHDs new belt holder and thats black, so I will have to live with that eventually..

So its all black, other than a splash of Orange and I think its looks quite nice.

I had orange originally, and to date I have replaced every part but the fan nozzle and LCD casing with black. I printed them all slow and pretty, and would pick black any day of the week now.

Build not finished yet, but cosmetically its done and this is what my "splash of orange" looks like....

Problem now is that my X axis mounts are the originals, and if I ever decide to print the new versions, it will be in black, so I am not sure it will look like this forever.
