Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
Hello fellow Prusa fans!
We're all aware of the issue with transparent or opaque filaments causing issues with the filament sensor. Unfortunately my main PETG was from eSun and is black opaque.
Are there any good alternatives for PETG that works with the filament sensor?
Are there any other workarounds for this that I don't know?
Would really love to be able to utilize this major feature on some of my longest prints. Thanks in advance for your advice!
Re: Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
I know I'm setting myself up for failure, but... I've been using Makergeeks black and smoke PETG since I received my printer without any issues. FWIW I've also used their clear PLA without issue.
Re: Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
You can turn off the filament sensor in the menus on the LCD, after that printing should go fine with the problem filaments.

Same here (black glass), no problems.

yup, that's the stuff. For as bad as a rap that they get I like their filament and am happy I ordered with them prior to reading reviews.... Looking forward to the 2 spools of Raptor PLA in this months geek box.

I have been using black gloss petg no problems no even with it stringing or blobbing lol

That Raptor PLA is awesome. I just hope this months spools are a good color! I don't want some goofy looking filament.
Re: Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
I've only gone through about 100g of Atomic Filament black PETG, but it didn't trigger the sensor. I think there might be some variation between sensors though, because I also went through a spool of eSun translucent orange PETG without problems.

If I'm reading their flyer correctly it's Pearlescent White and Right as Rain Teal... Not 100% sure though.
Re: Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
Inland black PETG requires turning off the sensor for me.

Re: Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
I use the black PETG from Prusa.
It works fine for me.
With the sensor on.

Re: Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
I had a issue where half way through the print it would cycle the sensor failure so quickly, that I could Not go into the menu and turn the sensor off fast enough! using mono price Black PETG.
Does anyone have a protocol mid print to fix / turn off the sensor while printing when the error cycles continuously? it would only give me the option to reload, but would fail instantly before I could change the setting in the menu to sensor off.
Is the description of the problem clear enough ?
Ideally it should give the user a way to Stop the sensor failure right?
Re: Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
Hatchbox Black PETG fails miserably! I will try it again and turn off the sensor to see if I get a usable print out of it. Is this something that Prusa is addressing through the firmware? Is it a hardware or software bug? ❓

Re: Black PETG that works with Filament Sensor?
I just went through 1kg of Atomic Filament Deep Black Opaque PETG PRO with the sensor on. It worked without any false alarms. In fact, it properly triggered the sensor when the spool ran out mid print.

thanks for posting - i want to print the R3 extruder parts for the mk3 and i've already had a lot of success with atomic filament petgs...
