Which IGUS bearings should one use now for Y?

Hi forum,

I am somewhat confused by the different IGUS recommendations mentioned throughout the forum.
What bearings are the beste replacements for the LM8UU that have 15mm outer diameter, have the smallest tolerance (i.e. run without play/gaps on the smooth rods) and are easiest to fit? (Now with MK2S and the steel clamps, fitting should be simple....)

Thanks alot!
Andreas

edit: Reason for replacement: Y is very noisy!

Hi Andreas,

check the website http://www.igus.com/wpck/3542/DryLin_R_Lineargleitlager or http://www.igus.de/wpck/2407/DryLin_R_Lineargleitlager here you will find all IGUS bearings and tolerances.
You should be careful with the U-bolts and plain Poymer IGUS bearings, to much force will deform them and they start to stick/bind. The drylin® R - Compact linear plain bearings RJUM-02 have the same dimensions as the LM8UU d1=8mm d2=15mm and B=24 and are enclosed.
Instead of using the U-bolts you can use http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1848700 they work just great. I printed them in PLA and used the 9. Spare M3 screws/bolts. 2x M3x10 and 1x M3x12 on the left and right side (closest to Z-Frame V slot) and the 1x M3x12 and 2x M3x18 inner side (here is more space for bit longer screws/bolts).

The IGUS bearings can bind and make prints worse, so if you want to use them take your time to align them perfect. You don't have to change the Z-axis bearings they don't move that much. For the x-axis the same, not perfectly aligned they bind and make things worse.

I got my y-axis bit less noisy using the Martin Majewski bearing holders, re-tight all bolts/screws and some cork under the heated bed. Check Nillabeans youtube video about it.

Thanks for the info!

I am unsure if it is worth the hassle... :/
