PRUSA I3 MKII Z-axis Upgrade
Being relatively new to 3d printing and have almost a month of experience with this unit, I wish it had a slightly larger Z-axis range. Has anyone upgraded the Z-axis height by replacing the aluminum z axis frame support with a larger piece of aluminum and then getting longer z-axis lead screws. I'm considering looking into this next month and having a piece of aluminum 0.375 inch (stock appears to be 0.25 inch) waterjet cut and then basically replicating the stock drill holes. With some software/firmware tweaking this should allow significantly larger items to be printed. I think the downsides would be minimal as their might be slightly more deflection or errors to become noticeable with a larger object but I think it would be doable.

Consider rebuilding to better/different frame design.
Yes, it should be easy in firmware as long as you are able (capable) to build your own version.

@jeff.j2 totally doable upscaling for bigger builds with the Prusa I3. You would have course to produce your own frames in all axis you change. Let us know how you get on.
