Will This Print?

I temporarily made the cylinder transparent so you could see the internals. The angle is 36 degrees. To be printed on a MK3, when I finally get it.

is that two pieces, can you print them separately? otherwise thats pretty steep so with support, sure.

Hmmm,

this looks like the plate in the zylinder is not loose, it's connected with the walls. The object is small, so bridging travel is short. It should work without support. Try it.

Use low layer height. And you should be ok. 0.1mm should be ok

Re: Will This Print?

Thanks for the advice. And yes, it's all one piece. A few years ago I sketched this out and sent it to a guy who did 3D printing. He did the design from my sketch and printed 10 of them; turned out real good. And now that I'm getting a printer I wanted to try doing the design & print myself. The thing is a mount for an LED (the small hole) which was built into the walls of my stairway when the house was built. An IR beam sensor at the top & bottom stair triggers the LEDs on for half a minute. Works well and looks just fine.

I want to better understand the reasoning behind printing at a height of 0.1mm to raise the chance that it will print well. Is this advice from experience? Can you explain why a low layer height makes for better printing on low angled slopes? Thanks.
