what happened with this print?

Printed some mounts for a tube thing i was designing. First time it printed fine. Second time it printed it created angle at one end on the first 6mm or so of the print. After that it leveled out and was fine.

I went back and reprinted and same file it printed fine. For some reason one end either got too hot on bed and shrank or something. Doesn't really make any sense. You should be able to see from print that the bottom was firmly printed on the powder coated spring steel plate. I have printed dozens of things and this is the second item to do this. For this one I printed using slic3r, 0.15 optimal mk3 settings, 25% infill.

Any suggestions as to what happened and how to fix would be appreciated.

Re: what happened with this print?

You give no info?

Part is not holding good enough to the bed.
To much cool air in the printer.
Bed not hot enough.
Parts warp, in the corner it pulls from 2 sides, a round part is better.
Clean bed as good you can, acetone 1 per week, if you print a lot, clean 3 times with dishwasher(keep it longer wet to get soft), then clean with 98% alcohol.
Try different filament.
Try different nozzle temps.

thanks for info. The parts is approx 2 inch x 3 inch square on base. I cleaned with acetone before printing. Bed is 60c standard setting. Weird that it will print it fine one time and then warped second time. I had another print do same thing, print good one, then warped one, then good reprint.

What is the material your are printing with? It seems like ABS.
Use Brim ase adviced before. For bigger prints with ABS you will need a printer eclosure. Or change the material. I thing PLA or PETG would be still good enough and it does not suffer with this shrinking issues.

My 2 cents: build plate need thorough clean.
You have already used acetone so use dishwashing liquid then IPA

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I haven't even printed one whole spool so I'm surprised if it needs thorough cleaning already, but I may try that also.

As for what actually happens, i figured it out. As it prints, one side lifts off the bed and bends. Depending on what you are printing, the nozzle bends the material back down as it prints in the lifted area. If it succeeds and keeps going it will produce the results shown. If it fails the part just pops off.

I also have tried using glue stick yet so i'll try that next.

This is kind of normal for ABS for me, about 1/10 prints do something like that. Make sure you don't have a cold draft on the print, make sure the bed is clean etc, and hope for the best... ABS is annoying to print in because of the warping.

You can also try a slightly hotter bed (not much, you'll hit the temp limiter).

Might also experiment with more perimeters and more infill. (Or less, I'm not sure what helps.)

I’m not sure if we are talking on the same song sheet. Clean the build plate not the printer. Cleaning the build plate needs to be done very often. At minimum IPA every handful, of prints (depends on where new items have been placed or where you might have touched with fingers). Full wash maybe weekly and acetone maybe monthly or less.
