Trouble printing the extruder body right
https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-i3/blob/MK3/Printed-Parts/stl/extruder-body.stl
This is the part where the first PTFE tube goes in. I've printed this 3 times now, once in Slic3r and twice in S3D. It comes out all crummy and the PTFE tube does not fit in the hole. I print the external perimeters very slowly with a 0.2 layer height. Bridge cooling is set to 100%. Seeing how this part slices, I'm not sure how it's supposed to be printable in PETG since it requires the extruder to do sharp turns in mid air.
Re: Trouble printing the extruder body right
Did you try to change the extrusion width? If I remember correctly S3D has a default width of 0.48mm (assuming a 0.4mm nozzle). Try setting it to 0.45 for example.
Re: Trouble printing the extruder body right
It was set to 0.45.
Re: Trouble printing the extruder body right
You could set it to an hypothetical 0.40 and let S3D make the gcode and check if anything has changed in the preview. But perhapse better, did you check if Prusa has recommended settings for these parts? It may work better with an increased layer height.
Re: Trouble printing the extruder body right
Not sure what is going on with your slicer. I just printed this very part last night. Sliced with Simplify 3D, .2 layer height, reasonably fast print speed, Filamentum CPE HG 100:

You're not looking at the right thing.
Re: Trouble printing the extruder body right
Ah, you are correct. Okay, take 2:

That's not the right thing either haha. Either way... you showing me your prints isn't really helpful in getting mine right.
Re: Trouble printing the extruder body right
No clue what you are shooting for, you said where the PTFE tube goes. Fine, I'm done here with helping (sheesh). Good luck.

There are 2 PTFE tubes that go in this part. One is before the gears, where the filament goes in. The other one is after the gears and goes into the heatsink. The part that is troublesome is with the hole where the first PTFE tube that the filament encounters sits, before the gears. I posted a screenshot of the specific area of the part. I don't know how I can be clearer than that short of a screen recording or a video. Thanks for trying to help anyway.
Re: Trouble printing the extruder body right
I fixed my issue by reducing the extrusion multiplier to 0.98! The hole was too tight because of overextrusion.
