The Struggles of Warping & Bed Adhesion
Hey all,
I've been struggling for a long time with some warping, and have recently had a couple pretty bad fails because of it which has renewed my interest in solving the problem. I've changed a lot over time, and I'm wondering if a recent switch to a textured sheet has caused the worse problems - but I've always had problems.
The example below is after a hot wash with liquid dish soap, but I typically clean w/ IPA after each print.
Current setup -
- MK3S+ in a photobox for an enclosure
- Textured sheet
- PLA/PLA+
- Temps
- Nozzle - 215 first layer then 210
- Bed - 60
- Fan cooling - I've also tried disabling for only first layer, which seemed worse
- Fan speed @ 100%
- Disable for first 3 layers
- Full speed layer 5
- Gyroid infill
- Skirt height - 1
- Brims - often use a 5mm brim w/ 0.1mm separation gap
- this helps but on some parts even this gets lifted up by the warping
- First layer speed - 10mm/s
- other speeds are variable, with perimeters at 45 and infill @ 80, but i've greatly reduced first layer speed here to help w/ initial adhesion
Let me know if other details might be helpful. Actual bottoms of prints look good typically, and the first layer always seems solid with settings above, so it feels like it's higher layers pulling and curling up, but I'm just not sure how to fully solve this thing.
Typical adhesion problem children (large rectangular objects w/ right angles) do tend to always have some issues, some prints (smaller objects with a more circular footprint) can print regularly without any apparent issues.
Any insights you might have would be super appreciated as this feels like one of my final battles to truly making this machine set and forget.
