Print problems with new Prusament PLA filament
Hi - I recently got my new Prusa i3 MK3 and had started printing with some PLA I had from my old printer - MatterHackers PRO PLA. Every print was coming out amazing! I switched to the Prusament and so far my 2 attempted prints have failed - won't stick to the bed. Any thoughts on what I should try? One that failed was just the sample batman logo... Going to switch back to the other PLA and try another test with it to see that all prints well again, but would like the Prusament PLA to print successfully as well.
thanks!
P.S. I am VERY happy with the printer - I'm able to print things that I could not conceive of printing with my old 3D printer!
EDIT - switching back resulted in a successful test print (batman again). Does the bed temp need to be higher for the Prusament filament?
Re: Print problems with new Prusament PLA filament
Some European made Prusa filament I have used has had issues with the first layer on the spool being contaminated. Either handling or the bag used leaves the layer unfit for printing. One testable effect is checking if the extrusion expands as it leaves the nozzle.
Re: Print problems with new Prusament PLA filament
** RESOLVED **
Thanks Tim for the info - I'll keep that in mind when getting new filament. In my case though, it turns out that I actually ordered PETG, NOT PLA like I thought I did... I noticed that it was PETG as I was removing the spool and returning it to its box... I adjusted the preheat and printing for PETG and all works fine again.
Thanks for help!
