Poor quality above support

I never noticed this before my latest firmware update, but everything above the support material looks extremely under extruded.  There are gaps between all the perimeter and solid infill layers.  I kept the Z contact spacing to .1 and increased the interface layers from 2 to 4, but got the same results.  I'm printing pteg and the rest of the print looks great.

Are you talking about just the first layer above the support, or everything else above it? Pictures might be helpful.
