Out of curiosity, do you know where they set the temperature to in the farm rooms?

If they are willing to share, I would like to know any other environmental controls they set.  Temperature and humidity will effect prints.

No, but I will ask...
May fall on deaf ears, who knows?

Not directly related to the PETG sheet, but another interesting question would be how does Prusa guarantee the PETG part has the correct hole dimension for Rods that pass thru them (for the kits). Do they test after printing, or assume they are all good? This comes mostly from another thread, but might clear up questions on PETG part accuracy.

RE:

I have referred this thread to my Prusa contact, he may be able to comment on this as well.
I suspect that hole dimensions are tested when the model is created then  expected to be in tolerance afterwards, there is probably occasional test sampling, but I would suspect that they do not do 100% QC testing.

Then what would I know... I am not a Prusa employee... lol!

The parts are gathered from the farm and then they go through a quality assurance checks to make sure all the parts fit, the ones that dont pass are set to be recycled.

Even if I asked for myself, I would not be told 🙂 but generally speaking, its set so the humidity is within normal range, between 30-50% humidity, but more than likely that is on the low end when you consider the number of printers and the heat they generate. The room temperature is also controlled so that its around 30-35C / 86-95f and again that is more to keep the printers somewhat cool when you consider the number of printers running in one room. There is an area that is used for printing some ASA parts (fan shrouds) and those are in a rack that has been converted to a large enclosure system so those parts print better in a warmer internal chamber temperature.

RE: PETG Printing on Smooth Sheet Help

Thanks Shane.  I was mostly curious.  And you also answered one question that I didn't ask, about additional enclosures.

I was wondering if they were in any way trying to emulate some kind of an enclosure in the farm rooms, as I remember the photos showing the printers in open air racks.  What you cited for temperature is just above what I have the temperature in the Prusa enclosure set for, currently fan on at 29C, fan off at 31C.  For a while I was bumping these up for PETg and ABS, but I got lazy, and even though I do swear that the enclosure adds to the quality of ABS prints, I think that it's more important that the air is still (or at least laminar) and at a constant reasonable temperature, than it is holding at the 50-ish to 60-ish C that I keep hearing.

The separate enclosure for the ASA parts does make sense.

30-50% is a bit higher in humidity than what I see here in the home office where I print.  The AC typically keeps it under 40% in the summer, even on muggy days, and we do humidify in the winter.
