MMU2S help

Hi everyone,

I am currently waiting on my MMU2S order but I wanted to start preparing.

I would like to print this model using the MMU2S changing the colors using the layer heights.

for example i would like 0-0.2mm to be color 1, 0.2mm-0.35mm to be color 2, 0.35mm-2.45mm to be color 3, 2.45mm-4.25mm to be color 4 and 4.25mm-5mm to be color 1 and 5mm+ to be color 5.

What would be the easiest way to split the different parts. I tried to cut it in PrusaSlicer 2.0 but I cant seem to put it back together properly afterwards. I was looking at meshmixer, but I dont know how to choose the specific heights.

Thanks for the help

RE: MMU2S help

the newest prusa slicer has color change by layer. its on the sliced screen where you goto look at the layers. there is a "+" next to what layer you are on. that should but a color change.

Unfortunately the reports in the MMU forum are that it only works in single filament mode and he will have to manually change filaments when prompted (in other words he do such a print now).

To let it run automatically with the MMU handling the filament changes the a tool will need to be used that separates the model into layers while retaining proper orientation. Then each chunk needs to be exported as a separate STL and that reassembled in PrusaSlicer.

You should be able to do it with MeshMixer using the plane cut tool, but so far my MM transforms of single STLs to multi-color prints has failed so it's best not to listen to me ☹️
