Intermittent X,Y offset - Need Help Troubleshooting
Hope someone can help point me in the right direction. I'm been printing a VERY large print that prints perfectly fine sometimes and at other times an (x,y) offset appears in the same exact position about 25mm from print bed. I know the part is probably pushing the limits, but what confuses me is why some prints work fine and other-times they don't without changing anything.
Things I've troubleshooted:
- Tightened grub screws on x & y steppers
- Checked belt calibration and adjusted within acceptable threshold
- Lubricated rods
- Leveled Prusa on workbench to make sure it's not slanted at all
Could this possibly be related to the extruder hitting something because it's at the bed max?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the Prusaforum!
Layer shifting can have various causes. There has been a lot of discussion about layer shifting in the forum. Some ideas about it here:

@karl-herbert
Thanks Karl!
I've actually done a deep dive on both these forums already and made adjustments based on the recommendations. Maybe I'll have another go at it.
I guess an easier question that I should ask is if anyone sees any issues with the size of the print itself? It's literally right on the margins. I'm just wondering if that could have something to do with it?

A big print is normally not a problem, but you could try to slow down.
Check all your hardware, check for loose parts, screws etc.
Check the grub screw if this is not loose, by the belts.
Check belts if they are not rubbing against the sides, move axis and look at belt, by hand with machine off.
Check belts if they are not to loose, but to tight is not good.
Clean rods, and put thin oil on rods, this needs to be done every few roll of filament.
RE: Intermittent X,Y offset - Need Help Troubleshooting
Finally figured it out after weeks of troubleshooting.
I was finding these little black blobs around my print and what I can determine is that my hotted is leaking on the top of the heater block and leaking down to form a drop that falls into the print causing it to harden and create a collision that offsets the print.
Since finding these "drops" that form and removing them during the print I've had absolutely no problems.
Thanks for the troubleshooting help!
